A tale of justice…

Caught up with 'A Severed Head', 1971. It's been a while since I read the Iris Murdoch novel, but the film to my recollection follows the plot very closely.

Feels familiar at the moment in its futility, in a way.

Osvaldo Licini, ‘Amalassunta n. 2’. As seen in Galleria Comunale d'Arte Moderna.

Giacometti, ‘Seated Man’, 1949. As seen at the Tate Modern.

Edward Hopper. ‘Seated Female Nude, Rear View’, 1900-06 and ‘Standing Female Nude and Sketche of Pelvis, Sphere, and Cylinder’, 1900-06. As seen as The Whitney.

Saw 'Misericordia' tonight, and its a damn interesting one. Like a more mundane Highsmith that take a turn into Buñuel? An incomplete and probably foolish set of comparisons, but a really cool night at the cinema.

Alain Guiraudie’s MISERICORDIA is out today. One of the absolute best films of the year. An engrossing, darkly humorous tale of unfulfilled desire. I had the privilege of interviewing Guiraudie for the New York Times about how he handles sex in his films: www.nytimes.com/2025/03/19/m...
