I use Likes as bookmarks and only temporarily while I still need to reference the post for something I'm doing.

It's getting better but I still see people talk about atproto "instances" when they come from ActivityPub. In AP an instance is a monolith with identity, data, distribution, application, moderation, and feed generation. In atproto these are all separate services offered by different providers.

I had to mute anything mentioning cred[.]blue because it was making the ATProto feed unusable.

"Move fast and break things" is fine when the only thing that can break is people's ability to look at cat pictures.

That "DeepSeek atproto bot" account everyone's freaking out about? It's clearly a troll not affiliated with DeepSeek, trying to freak you out for a laugh. Nobody needs to follow you, notify you, or add you to any lists to grab all your posts (and those of the other 30 million users).

Be polite and nice to developers who are building you a free atproto product on their spare time. Rude demands are bad enough from paying customers, let alone from entitled little sh*ts.

You know what would be really cool? If labels could have an embed to use as a custom emoji. Labelers are one part of atproto I haven't looked into at all yet so this may or may not make sense.

I can't find this in the docs. I might have to set up a test PDS just to check 🤔

atproto PDS self-hosters: does the Bluesky implementation make the upload blob size limit configurable or is it always 1M bytes?

I must say Bluesky support is pretty good for an app with no paying customers. Back when I was doing some experiments with the atproto API my account got mistaken for a bot and suspended but it got resolved in a couple days.

Sometimes I'll think "I don't know what this person's talking about" and realize it's because they don't know what they're talking about, either.

Hi Bluesky! Glad to be here.

I really like having my dev environment as close to production as possible. Run everything in containers and have a reverse proxy e.g. ngrok sending TLS connections from the outside to your local k8s ingress. Share the Docker image cache with k8s for fast dev inner loop. #webdev

I used to have commonly used code snippets in private gists or just a local file but the Warp Drive notebooks are a game changer. Huge time saver for me. #terminal #macOS #Linux

This is a large part of why I just don't use Mastodon anymore. I have never seen a group of people so incredibly hostile to developers while simultaneously (and with seemingly no self awareness) questioning why people don't want to use their platform more.
