And yes, coleuses are KNOWN to taste bad, but if we put a big bushy one on the porch, the squirrels will try it. Also, had a gas line leak in the car, and the mechanic comes back laughing, holding my line with LITERAL TEETH MARKS in it—apparently, the chipmunks lack taste too 😑

After one bad coleus (it's a joke; they're all bad, but it doesn't stop them from trying it), the critters in our yard no longer trust anything in a container, so we don't have the problem as much; however, light-colored bird netting, possibly with washers to hold things down, might work~
