Not sure if these are just things I'm late to discovering but if you're using #Unreal and you want to integrate various things from the Win32 API you can use WindowsHWrapper.h from the Core Components

I do enjoy that you can use Unity as a 3d renderer and just throw almost whatever .net libraries you want at it. I've setup Protobuf + an editor window to compile all .proto scripts in the project and am working on integrating it with Lidgren to send data across a network for a simple game.

If you aren't using them already, I recommend looking into Item Templates in Visual Studio. Found them while looking to make writing Components in O3DE less painful. They've been useful for quickly adding new headers with guards directly to a project without needing to write it all myself each time.

Gaea is amazing. Only a small amount of import tweaking in UE but otherwise its just a 16k png heightmap to UEs terrain

Stand up desk and a treadmill still has to be the best way to exercise while at work, would recommend.

Finally reprogrammed VPC for VS 17, 19 and 22 support and I have a new level of respect for anyone who's ever worked on Valves Project Creator... I also gutted your Reg Checks, and I regret nothing. Now time to write a UI to generate projects without requiring the CLI

There is no "Unreal Engine" starter pack to follow. So im creating one here: go.bsky.app/S3U5wKj If you have any Unreal Engine skills, reply if you want to be added. Repost if you can so other people can be aware too. #UE5 #UnrealEngine5 #UnrealEngine #Gamedev #Indiedev

We also got Unreal to sit at a casual ~500 FPS on a 3080ti and about 60 on an Intel 4th gen APU. Completely vertex based lighting, no PPFX, models with a triangle count above 512, Lumen or Nanite and entirely in DirectX 11. Really targeting that lower end Boomer Shooter audience.

(headphone warning) I don't animate too often, because I'm not an artist, but I'm really happy with how this turned out. Now to throw it into the engine and make the bullets actual physics objects #gamedev #blender www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoG1...

Putting some time into fully learning Unreals C++ networking and I guess you could say it's going well...

Quest 3 Pros This round boi charger that has rolled off my desk 3 times already Cons The app doesn't have Quest 3 yet so I have an expensive brick 🙃
