“It is no exaggeration to call these cuts terrifying” eastangliabylines.co.uk/news/welfare...

President Zelenskyy: "It is absolutely obvious that Russia is actually trying to fool the world - fool America& others -prolong the war further. That's why pressure is necessary…Yesterday's meetings in Vatican and Rome confirmed that our partners understand what's going on."

This is such a good piece and such an interesting phenomenon. He looks healthy & happy in both pics, and it’s his body to wear how he likes. But it doesn’t surprise me at all that the male gaze and female gaze diverge so sharply on which photo is more appealing.

In May 2023, the residents of Mid Suffolk voted for change when they elected the first majority Green council in the UK. So what have they been doing since then? Is it a new model? Definitely worth a read. 👇

My personal "5 years since the start of Covid" moment is remembering that in 2020, the US discovered it had allowed almost all its mask and PPE manufacturing to transfer to China for cost savings. In 2025, PPE is still almost all made offshore, and we just encouraged China to end shipments to us.

Hospital acquired COVID has a 10% fatality rate & is almost completely avoidable with clean air & masking Why aren’t we doing it? Why aren’t people enraged when someone goes in for care & dies of COVID? It’s because they think those vulnerable people were going to die soon anyways. It’s eugenics

POTS is way more than “just” a high heart rate or fainting (in fact you don’t even need to faint to have POTS). Your autonomic nervous system controls all the unconscious processes in your body. When it malfunctions, everything goes haywire. Signed… a gal who’s POTS is monster flaring today

The government has published no evidence to suggest that cutting disability benefits will get people back to work. The evidence it has published found that these cuts would plunge hundreds of thousands of people into poverty. I’m joining @trusselluk.bsky.social in calling on the gov’t to rethink

John Curtice notes on Today that mayoral races could be won with as little as 25% of the vote. But it's worse than that: if turnout in (eg) the West of England race is the same as in 2001 - 36% - a party might win with 9% of eligible votes. First Past the Post is an absurdity in these conditions.

The UK’s benefits regime isn’t just cruel – it may be breaching international law. 💯 This.

Dear Canada: tomorrow is Election Day. This is Mark Carney. Hint, hint.

Who did this? 😂

A number of popular public recreation areas administered & owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be closed this summer due to Trump’s budget cuts Will affect the 99% but not the 1% as their expensive private vacation resorts won’t be affected by the cuts apnews.com/article/army...

"Meta is building a $10 billion AI data center in northeast Louisiana. Entergy Louisiana says it needs to build a major new natural gas plant to power the facility. The utility wants permission to pass the plant's construction costs onto its entire customer base."

ICE can enter anyone’s home, and abduct and deport them to a foreign prison indefinitely because the DOJ says they can ignore the 4th, 5th and 15th amendments. If there’s no due process or protections against illegal search and seizures, none of us are safe.

When fascism hits unsend but the internet is forever.

Vast numbers of pheasants are released for shooting in Ireland too. Each one survives by constantly devouring native wildlife alive. They artificially boost fox/mink populations, impacting vanishing native ground-nesting birds. They help spread Lyme disease to people, etc. This madness MUST end.

Funny how the paperwork only matters when it’s a woman or minority voter.

SO worth a repost!

There it is. The clam before the storm.

A colleague at Stanford’s business school used The Stanford Daily to argue—poorly—against DEI. The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond. I hope you’ll read and share the piece. stanforddaily.com/2025/04/22/w...

Check out how the anchors of CBS Evening News ended their broadcast tonight:

Just spoke with my CDC sources. RFK Jr. has reportedly instructed officials to stay silent on bird flu transmission and avoid testing farm workers with symptoms. This is a direct attempt to suppress vital information. Pandemics begin with secrecy and cover-ups.

Almost every line of this story would have been simply unbelievable a few months ago: —Pioneering cancer researcher; —*Arrested* at airport in Boston; —Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana; —"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research. Read it. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

I feel increasingly disconnected from the party I voted for and had such high hopes for. Did we give them a mandate to cos-play Reform-lite? I want them to lead and argue for their vision instead of chasing polls. Oh and charge me more income tax instead of penalising kids & disabled people

My first apartment in 1994 was $350/month. Adjusting for inflation, that apartment should now rent for $744/month. It actually rents for $1500. Greed and inflation are hurting the kids, not their Starbucks lattes.

FUCK. THIS. All of this.

Previous to the FDA, folks would put chalk and plaster of Paris in milk to make it appear white. They could also add formaldehyde to cover the smell and taste of spoiled milk.

“Think of the 2024 election when Labour won 33.7% of the votes, but an eye-watering 63.2% of the seats. New projections from polling agency PLMR show Reform on course to win 225 seats at the next general election – that’s 35% of all seats with just 25% of the vote.”
