Amateur photographer. I'm here for my love of photography (& sometimes flying drones). Inactive for a long while, restarting in 2025. I need to be creating & capturing again. My dusty old amateur portfolio: http://codysimsphotos.com/Portfolio

From 2017, the lovely Tanya with a comfy fall sweater theme. I was excited to use the sun as a direct backlight to make her vibrant hair shine.. what a result! This was taken wide-open f/1.4 with midday sun in-frame 😎 #utahphotographer #portrait #portraitphotography #offcameraflash #godox #sonyalpha

My new handle: @codysims.com Pretty cool, finally a payoff for the domain I've never done anything with but held onto for the past 18 years for some reason 🤡

I renamed this feed to Off-Camera Flash, it just feels more appropriate to me. I've already found several great photographers through it.

Sharing my favorite-ever drone flight from 2022. 3 minutes of climbing (over 1,000') up the most amazing continuous cascade in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. Meticulously scouted & planned, flown with white knuckles. Very proud of the smooth motion throughout, few hiccups. #waterfall #drone

I've been in love with the magic of off-camera flash ever since #strobist Lighting 101 (thanks @davidhobby.bsky.social). I've created a Bluesky Feed for Photography Lighting, check it out if you share the love (FYI: nudes are filtered).

Getting started on Bluesky with old work, a favorite from 2017 with the lovely Cindy and a great sunset. It really shows the style I like: vivid colors, dramatic light, crisp separation, of course a great subject. #utahphotographer #portrait #portraitphotography #offcameraflash #godox #sonyalpha

My new public social home, dumping Meta as much as I can. So.. hello 👋 Husband/dad & dev in UT USA, but my only interests in social media anymore are photography and sometimes my drone. It's been a long while, but I'm strongly inspired to start creating again this year. I need the outlet.
