The SPSFC now has an account on Bluesky! I wonder if anybody is talking about us here.

This interview was so much fun and intellectually satisfying. With MY GOVERNMENT MEANS TO KILL ME, @rasheed.bsky.social wrote a vibrant, sexy, soul-stirring queer historical epic.

Some light social satire from Cixin Liu's Deaths End. An excess of conscience or duty "is seen as a mental illness called social-pressure personality disorder" Lately, Americans are doing a great job resisting this affliction.

Cixin Liu's The Dark Forest, bleak as it is, has been some comfort this week. "The only constant in a world of tremendous change is the swift passage of time." #sciencefiction #scifi #futurism

Fact-checking wasn’t “biased” against conservatives. Conservatives just shared more false content. If there’s a sportsball game and one team fouls four times as much, it’s not “biased” for the ref to call four times as many fouls against that team.

If this exists, I want to read it. If not... I'll add it to my never-going-to-get-done goals. Comparative analysis of public perception, morality, personal empowerment, and friendships in the novel, theatrical, and film adaptations of #Wicked.

@jahennrikus.bsky.social Many thanks for a valuable webinar on goal setting and time management for writers. I'm going to incorporate your tips into my planning. 🗓️🗒️

Since yesterday I was talking about Gates McFadden’s struggles to get behind the camera opportunities, it’s time for me to share a story about the Doctor and how she’s one of the reasons I’m a Professor. 🧵 (Here’s us at the 2024 #StarTrek convention #STLV)

The Greeks absolutely had it right when they included a chorus in their plays. They knew audiences are dumbasses who need to be told “THIS MAN IS BAD. HE IS HERE AS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT *NOT* TO DO. WOE TO THE BUMPTIOUS FOOL WHO WOULD IDOLIZE HIM. YOU ARE NOT, NOR DO YOU WANT TO BE, ALEX DELARGE”
