Highly recommend The Interview with the very thoughtful (and quite dreamy) @edyong209.bsky.social podcastaddict.com/the-intervie...

Shorter to just say Elon is a narcissist and also dumb as a box of hair...

I know I'm up too late when my skyline is suddenly all German, French and British

i barely thought about Elon Musk until the Trapped Thai Schoolboys Incident, upon which it became extremely apparent he was both stupid and insane

PORTLAND: Tesla will be exhibiting vehicles at the Oregon International Auto Show, starting today and running through the end of the weekend. People use this event to survey the market for new vehicles ahead of purchasing, so it's an ideal place to interrupt potential new Tesla sales. #TeslaTakedown

here is the thing about the “argument” that democrats should have run roughshod over the law when they had the chance: it is much easier to break the law to destroy a program than break the law to create one.

Just look at these paragraphs from the AP story. Hegseth called Brown unqualified solely because he's Black. Then they fired him... and replaced him with a white guy so indisputably unqualified that he requires a Presidential waiver. This is what "merit" means to them. apnews.com/article/trum...

Honest question: this questioner had a thick southern accent and the congressmember started his answer with a reference to foghorn leghorn--is he making fun of a Georgia constituent for having a southern accent or am I missing something? Also, if either the Black or Jewish Senator did the same...

The juxtaposition of this and the "ASMR" post is enraging

Thinking of that article about how men want us to let them be heroes and how what they do NOT mean by that is taking care of your 12-13 kids

Excited about WatchCats episodes dropping next week, where we’ll be talking DOGE & cybersecurity with @tarah.org Wheeler & how Elon Musk is rerunning his Twitter playbook with NYT reporters Ryan Mac & Kate Conger. Might as well catch up on the first 2 eps this weekend! watchcats.transistor.fm

Even if I thought this were true of folks arguing w me, wouldn't bother to say so--doesn't convince anyone, doesn't add to original idea, just provides @chatterton.bsky.social some dopamine, which, tbf, is kind of what social media is for, but don't pretend to be looking for intellectual engagement

This is also what saved the ACA

"AI" is, purely, a marketing term and a (poor) umbrella phrase for a number of different types of computerized statistical analysis, iteration and synthesis. If something is being touted as "AI" to me, it's because someone wants me to buy it, and also I probably don't need it.

Important to note that IQ isn't a thing and that Elon's stupidity is not a matter of some immutable characteristic of his brain but because he is a lazy and incurious man who has never bothered to learn anything new. Ofc, Nate is similarly afflicted.

i mean, yes, precisely. both trump, the conservative media and the centrist media repeatedly lied to them about how tariffs work and they believed the lies.

Meanwhile, this guy has the mothers of 2 different children begging him to respond to them on his own social media platform because their children need help. Every day I wake up in disbelief that this is our reality.

As a Black mother, someone who studied neuroscience.I fought for over a year to get my son the right care. Before meds, he was self-harming. RFK Jr.’s dangerous rhetoric dismisses families like mine who’ve seen the real, life-changing impact of treatment. #MOMSky. wordinblack.com/2025/02/rfk-...

This is perfectly stated and is a mirror of our politics. Both tech companies and electeds spend most/all their time competing for the favor of people who can write a fat check and have no need to pay attention to customers/voters. They have decided public opinions and preferences are irrelevant.

my first piece for The Atlantic. i will be providing more incisive commentary like this, when called upon to do so.

I know this is pointless to say but the idea that both Trump and Musk could have access to the inner workings of government agencies, briefings from some of the world's most accomplished experts and still know less about the government than your average 16yo Model Congress kid is astounding

Baffled is just going to be my default state, I guess

No one's coming to save us after all

1. European and UK ministers are still talking as if their biggest potential security problem is a withdrawal of US support. But that is not their biggest potential security problem. It’s that, under Trump, the US will back Putin not just diplomatically but also militarily. 🧵

Having to brew coffee in the morning before you can actually drink any of the coffee that makes it possible for you to make things is just proof of how western society has failed its people

Humanity created a massive tool for social control and placed it in the hands of the worst people possible techcrunch.com/2025/02/19/s...

At no point in my lifetime or my mother's lifetime was driving to Manhattan a thing any reasonable person would want to do. That includes in the 1970s and 80s when "unsafe subways" was actually a fair statement.

Hope someone in Philly takes on this project

I guess it should come as no surprise that the manosphere-fueled fascist takeover should be led by a petty little bitch (excuse my language but that is really the only term that fits).

So sorry for Adrian and all the people who loved Kiah and glad to have learned a little about her.

"...this goddamned disgrace of a culture and system of government, if that’s what you call whatever the hell this is—is where you live, where you are from, and where you will likely die"

State governments should cut off all state and local cooperation with the FBI, and they should do it immediately. No law requires it, the Constitution fully empowers you to not even return their calls. But there is no legitimate purpose now in treating them as an acceptable partner for anything.

Fictional villains: my motivation involves a complex backstory around lost love and a deep yearning to be understood Real life villains: being cruel makes me feel like a big strong man

Rural folks really getting screwed sideways by this administration. Combining this with the hospital and clinic closures that will come from budget cuts will cost lives.

Truly never ceases to amaze that the first (!) Trump impeachment has fallen down a memory hole so deep that we can watch a bigger shakedown of *the same Ukrainian president* in real time without it coming up (guilty of this as I didn't mention in my own post yesterday).

“I finally found one person I knew who got DOGE’d, and it hit me in the heart.” Watters cont'd, "and I realized this isn't just a game with others merely pawns to satisfy my tepid ambitions and hide my insecurities and I felt such shame for the harm I've done and excused." J/k, he's still a POS.

A movie you've watched (so many) more than six times.

To all my BlueSky friends living in PA who are registered Democrats - VOTE in May and November this year. Our courts are on the ballot. VOTE YES to retain our Supreme Court. I'm sick of our 40% turnout in off year elections. Off years is when crazy shit happens.
