I was surprised/ excited the other day to find Western (Blue) Clematis growing a stone's throw from my fence, on the farm! #BloomScrolling #FlowersOnFriday #wildflowers #BorealForest #Alberta #Canada YouTube video, #Spectra and pics to follow 🌿📽️ youtube.com/shorts/ajrV_...

Fantastic light yesterday as a cold/storm front approached. The trees with fresh bright green leaves were still catching sun against a nearly black sky, making it look as though they were pasted onto the scene. #nature #weather #spring #Alberta #Canada #SolaceInNature #BorealForest #CountryLiving 🌿📷

#WorldBeeDay this tiny #bee (there are tinier) probably #halictid May 06 is making the most of #Tulipa tarda (hort) after the #flowers of Draba bruniifolia ssp olympica (last Draba to flower in my garden, still fresh that day) #RockGarden #bees #WildBees #pollinators #Alberta #Canada #spring 🌿📷🌱

1- As a youth I picked early #wildflower bouquets for Mom's birthday + #MothersDay When I moved back + planted spring flowers the bouquets grew; after Mom's passing, they became #spring celebrations of #rebirth the start of #Latvian #TimeOfFlowers + #GreatMother vids to follow #PaganSky #Alberta 🌱🌿

Today I collected wild + #garden flowers to make a seasonal altar (more of that soon); while out I saw this #butterfly on Marsh Marigolds- my first sighting of the species on #flowers this year- I've seen it for a few weeks flying around dry grass. #nature #BloomScrolling #Alberta #pollinators 🌿

It seems like the #TimeOfFlowers #season has barely begun and I'm already hopelessly behind on sharing photos! These are from 10 days ago, some finished or on the way out, lots of new things popping up.. #garden #RockGarden #spring #NaturalGardening #Alberta #Canada #z3 🌱📷

Snowshoe #Hares can be common here, though populations go up and down. Even when abundant they're elusive so it's a treat to see one + get pictures/video. This one was on #MayDay Special visitor sent by #GreatMother ? #Spectra link+pic below #nature #photography #Alberta #Canada #wildlife #PaganSky

Short video of the first violet flowers- one of the first #wildflowers of the year. I'll link YT and #Spectra below in case you want a higher resolution view (YT) or a non-corporate host! Photos also to follow #FlowersOnFriday #BloomScrolling #nature #Alberta #Canada #BorealForest📷🌿🌷

Did this really upload? My first successful direct #video post..lol The first (or nearly? another candidate coming..) non-tree species to #flower this year: Shepherdia canadensis Canadian Buffaloberry these are wild, but they are used in #permaculture #BorealForest #Alberta #Canada 🌿🌱

In the #Latvian #pagan tradition, we are now in the #TimeOfFlowers and they are popping up more each day in the #garden (+ wild but slower!) #Bees are ready! This tiny person on Pulsatilla nuttalliana North American Pasqueflower in the garden. #spring #PaganSky #BloomScrolling #insects #Alberta

Late #WildflowerWednesday lol I'd said these were the 1st non-tree wildflowers of the year but found another contender yesterday (still have to come) super tiny flowers of Shepherdia canadensis Buffaloberry #BloomScrolling #NativePlants #nature #spring #Alberta #Canada #GoOutsideForMe 🌿📷

#Spring indoors as well as out! #WindowsillWednesday with Weingartia #Cactus #BloomScrolling #Florespondence #houseplants #IndoorGardening 📷🌱

Last Friday I did some #RockGarden work- lots of little critters seen, including maybe a half dozen different kinds of #spiders- most didn't sit still, sadly, but I got a couple! This one was more inclined to hide than run. #nature #garden #biodiversity #Alberta #Canada #GetOutside #MacroMonday 🌿📷

I've been seeing these funky *tiny* critters for a few weeks in #RockGardens - on soil/ plant debris. Here some of them were #RockClimbing making 📷 a bit easier; Velvet Mites /Eutrombidium genus- I think! #arthropods #arachnids #nature #wildlife #GetOutside #biodiversity #MacroMonday #FotoMontag 🌿

#FlowersOnFriday meets #InsectFriday One of the first Crocus flowers of the year (only 1 golden flower beat this, by a few hours!) and a tiny #NativeBee found it. much more to come as days warm.. I saw a couple (different ones) on wild Pussywillows also. #bees #Bloomscrolling 🌱📷🌿

More early #flowers still tiny few + scattered, but they'll pick up speed quickly with the next couple of days forecast in the 20C/70F range even *some* nights above freezing! Here's one of the Drabas more of the Galanthus #FlowersOnFriday #BloomScrolling #Alberta #Canada #spring #RockGarden 🌱📷

Here are the first garden flowers of the year- 1st snowdrops from yesterday; 1st couple of Drabas also opened + I saw first crocus this morning, no photo yet. In the wild just poplars and willows so far. 🌱📷 #garden #BloomScrolling #florespondence #Alberta #Canada #spring #RockGarden #FirstFlowers

#Spring sees many traditional + #pagan celebrations. Here's a post from last year for Ūsiņš Day #Latvian celebration for #CrossQuarterDay +/- #MayDay though Christianisation has bumped it up to April 23 nearly on top of #Easter this year #WitchSky #nature cohanmagazine.blogspot.com/2024/04/blog...

By late this morning, there were already bare patches where the sun reached but still lots of white in shade. Clumps of wet #snow and drops of melt water poured down from the trees. #snow #Alberta #Canada #nature #BorealForest🌿 📷 #ThickTrunkTuesday

Forecast 10-20cm #snow Sunday through Monday- Mon we got a bit of rain then rain/melting #snow 5-8cm on the ground by this morning. Lots melted, lingering in shade. Great moisture for spring renewal. Details in alt #weather #Alberta #Canada #spring #April #Easter #ThickTrunkTuesday #trees

Saturday: thunder + rain at home; rain + a little hail (no thunder loud enough to hear from noisy inside) at work #RockyMountainHouse Great clouds for evening #commute Snowfall warning Sunday night / Monday- modest rain earlier turned to snow 3pm #weather #ABStorm #sunset #landscape #Photography

This week we've had some warmish dry days, a bit of rain, +this morning some snow, followed by sun, more clouds, graupel, sun again.. These views from late morning, #snow is all gone in the sun, lingering in shade... notes in alt #spring #Alberta #Canada #nature #garden #RockGarden #weather 📷🌱🌿
