Yup, to quick to be much meaningful. An opportunity likely to be missed.

Data Protection Adequacy is hugely significant to everything from cross-border business to police info sharing. Data rights also really do need to be considered under Art 2 WF. A bigger problem than Stormont's missed vote is that Westminster has given scant attention to the NIHRC's concerns.

The NIHRC's briefing on this Bill has been available since January, and it made extensive submissions on the previous Government’s Data Protection and Digital Information Bill. This advice coming as a surprise to the Finance Dept, taking months to process, isn't credible:

The filibuster would be a gift for Trump - he'd rock into the midterms saying the Dems hate US jobs. On the shadow docket, we'll see if it's even needed, Roberts is fond of saying that the Court can move fast on questions of substance (eg the TikTok case), when it wants to.

I don't even think it gets there, given the USSC, but you've more faith than me in congressional republicans.

Then, alas, I have five expert language torturers headed up by Sam Alito who are sure to wade into this. I have no qualm with your account of the law, I'm just not confident it will get past this audience.

I really wouldn't be confident. This Supreme Court are *very big* on Executive power. And why stick their necks out when a supine Congress could (and would) just approve Trump's roster of tariffs - no delegation of power necessary?

I'm lost. If all university is about is imparting knowledge then folk would just have to read a book.
