Every once in a while, someone asks me why I have multiples (currently 8) of the same affordable-but-comfortable dark grey t-shirts I wear, often with a hoodie/flannel/wool sweater. I ask, "You ever spend time wondering what you're gonna wear?" They typically say yes. I respond, "I don't."

The "not so much annual but often enough to be a local thing" St. Paddy's Day storm* doesn't seem to be in the cards this year. (Nor does the "I can't believe it's 27Β°C on March 17th!!!" event we had back in 2012, but that's ok) * - this has a +/- 5 day range, according to with whom you speak to.

Biannual "I hate the time change" post, just so everyone knows where I stand on it. I will, however, appreciate it more once the weather gets better in May & June.

Currently enamoured with soft hackle flies/fishing for trout & trying not to go broke with my infatuation with said soft hackle fishing. Note: it's ~50ish days before trout season even opens, so it's more the idea of fishing soft hackles that's occupying my mind.

Found a bottle of hopped cider in the back of the fridge at near-frozen temperature. And it's delightful

This one, too

Just throwing this nugget out there again, as things have seemed to have escalated a smidgen

It's soon that time of the year I get the delusional belief I'll tie a hundred baitfish flies for friends & family for the upcoming striped bass season (but end up tying a dozen, ten of which I give away, two I fish all season until they disintegrate, or don't fish at all the whole season).

The wind is so freakin' cold, the local landlords & "businessmen" have put their hands in their own pockets, not the pockets of their neighbours & underpaid employees. I'm kidding. It's never too cold for those thieves & grifters.

It's hard to put into words, but do any history buffs feel some "inadequate Mussolini invades Greece" vibes from the oval office? Like, the joke part is over. It's not being said for shock value anymore. I'm surprised at how many people shrug this off.

Planned degrowth now. Or unplanned, uncontrollable degrowth later. - Me, back in 2016, probably paraphrasing someone smarter than me. We're knee-deep into the age of consequences now, aren't we?

Has anyone ever read an article or listened to a podcast that mentioned a book as a really good reference on that subject, then later found said book on their bookshelf without any memory of buying or reading it? Ummm, me neither... 🫠 (It's kinda like winning a little lottery, tbh)

If Canada has to mimic Nordic countries protecting themselves from aggressive foreign power next door, does that mean we get saunas, abundant & affordable handmade quality axes & cozy socks? Just wondering how far we can take this....

Cherry tomato update. Lotsa fruit, not so much red.

Another batch of cider bottled up. Beagle for scale. Make politicians irrelevant again. Preferably while carrying a low-level cider buzz.

1. Nobody was on their deathbed and, with their last breath, said "I wish I worked more..." 2. You're far closer to being homeless than you are being a billionaire. 3. Don't punch down: your life is probably made far more difficult by some shitlord in a suit more than anyone else. Punch up.

Dreaming of warmer seasons in this bitter cold night

A pantry full of food & water (and cider!!), substantial first aid supplies & other "preps" are great and all, but when the mother of all tooth/sinus/ear infections manifests itself late on a Friday night really makes one realize the tenuous existence one has with modern life.

Just in case anyone, possibly in Greenland and maybe here in Canada, wants to, umm, do some historical research on a hobby level, the book 'Total Resistance' can be accessed via Internet Archive. Never too early to learn stuff.
