A new word for me! So satisfyingly apt

Incredible. Ty for explaining.

I don’t get it, what’s the joke supposed to be?

Well I find it oddly comforting that I may have misjudged. Not a ton of comforting thoughts atm!

Was ingraham’s inadvertent? It looked intentional to me. (This by musk is on a different level, obviously.)

I assume those slats open? It’s an attractive solution, the first pic with the black blind is just so ugly

That’s actually a good answer! Matches the silly phrasing of the question and lets him pontificate and deflect.

Why is it no skin off your nose though? Does misogyny only matter to you if you like the person talking about it?

How I’ve come to loathe “wonk,” especially as self-descriptor (cf. Paul Ryan)

God, everyone has a story like this. A pox on every asshole who defends this “healthcare” system because it hasn’t happened to them personally yet

Yeah but he was a research physician at Stanford when Covid came, how did he get so far? It’s not just the junk science but also the total lack of medical and scientific ethics (same for his oncologist wife), how does that happen?

How did he get so far in his profession?

Why do people want unpasteurized milk in the first place? I don’t understand this issue at all

Loathsome woman with a staff full of greedy ghouls. Pathetic and enraging.

Do you want to elaborate or just keep dropping mysterious hints?

Madness! That does not sound legal, not that there’s much you can do about it.

5k for what??

It's really hard to remain hopeful when you see all the signs and know the history. There's no silver bullet. And contrary to what most people think, most of the bastards who commit atrocities never see consequences or justice. They usually live happily till old age in wealth and privilege.

Oh I have no doubt. I have tremendous respect for your work & perspective.

This is a really good review and honestly difficult to read. It must have taken a LOT of patience to write. Thank you for sharing.

My god what is wrong with you

This is actually really nice.

Flashback to the poor Cigna rep trying to explain the distinction between an “in-office” mammogram and the one I was attempting to have. There is literally no solo practitioner with a radiology setup in their own “office”! Absolutely insane experience.

& then you understand concepts like “cold-blooded murder” and “miscarriage of justice” in a whole new way! Many such cases, unfortunately.

Amazing, amazing. Too wracked by grief to comment on this story, but not *so* distraught they can’t barf out that nytimes explainer of how compasssssionate they are.

Incredible piece. Truly beyond parody.

This is EXACTLY right, it’s the humiliation. Of being desperate, sick, disposable, of your pain being irrelevant. Of having people claim this system is good actually! Too bad you failed at living in it, but that’s just the way it is.

But perpetual stability is an illusion, even for the craven and politically rewarded. Not suggesting that “justice” is coming in any way, but instability sure is.

Was thinking about occupy and the aftermath of no accountability; it seems that corporate execs today think that bc they faced no consequences then, they will continue to experience none in perpetuity?

I will never understand lucky people’s hubris. Don’t you understand how close you are to being unlucky?

Even if you “like” your health insurance, what is there to thank them for? At best, they are doing what you pay them to do, which is to cover medical care. What’s to appreciate? That they are less scummy than they could be?
comment in response to post
Idk if that makes sense but I wonder about it every time. How do they understand the words that they say? As lies? Or do they believe but just not care?

In your opinion: when they correctly identify an issue as bad (e.g. trump is a threat to democracy), & then do a total 180 (e.g. Biden cheesing it up, blumenthal praising elon) — what are they thinking? Did they not believe it in the first place? How did they know to mouth the right words?

I heard things like this, but thought it was a fringe view limited to the people who expressed it. Of course I was wrong and I’ve come to see that it is THE animating principle for so many. I feel like I don’t understand anything, and I’m not new to the world. Ty for the book rec.

Can I ask why you picked that source? Just curious.

So where did the fake manifesto originate?? Are you sure this is the real one? And what’s with media outlets being so reticent with any real information?
