I have long believed that not enough has been written about how GOP members have felt physically intimidated by Trump supporters. It doesn’t excuse their cowardice, but it still deserves more attention.

BREAKING — I've confirmed the DOGE staffers at SSA. They are Marko Elez (who was previously fired for racist posts and then reinstated), Ethan Shaotran, Nikhil Rajpal, and Gautier Cole-Killian. This is per Social Security Works, a non-profit working to protect/expand Social Security.

We can all see that Elon Musk is the moment. So USA TODAY Opinion decided to ask readers if Musk is doing too much or if they're good with it. Help me spread this and please feel free to add your vote. www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

QUIET PART OUT LOUD — Watters outlines Fox’s role in the right-wing propaganda effort: “We are waging a 21st century info warfare campaign against the left… Someone says something on social media, Musk retweets it, Rogan podcasts it, Fox broadcasts it...”

This is extremely serious. Legal teams need to hit the ground running overnight - along with EVERY Democrat in Washington. Doubtful there are any honorable GOP remaining but even one or two would help. P.S. Thanks to Shauna for the gift link.

JUST IN: Another medical horror story in an affidavit from a USAID employee stationed overseas. Says his pregnant wife was not medevac-ed for emergency health care because of directives from DC. Took intervention of a U.S. senator to reverse — but was too late. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Have y'all heard of the Project 2025 Heat Map that outlines how 1/3 of the goals have already been achieved? Check out this site and follow: www.project2025.observer Call your representatives and ask them if they are aware of this site and how much of their plans have been implemented.

Elon Musk's DOGE team of misfits have fired everybody at the Federal Aviation Administration ✈️ who is a probationary employee Thinking they have got rid of all the new hires It turns out many of these were experienced technicians, recently promoted and were on probation for their new senior role

This is a coup.

I've been waiting for an instance of censorship by government outlet Xitter that someone could build a 1A case around. This might be the one! @mluckovich.bsky.social

Neo-Nazi terrorist and convicted mass murderer Anders Breivik, who killed 77 people in Norway in 2011, cited this same Napoleon quote in his manifesto.

Firing a quarter of the federal workforce will save one percent of the federal budget.

Elon Musk’s DOGE just posted classified U.S. intelligence data on its website, and officials are scrambling, HuffPost reports.

What the hell is this document and why does it look like it was put together by a second grader? storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Cc; house/senate democrats, it’s really easy. republicans hate veterans

Having passed up the opportunity years ago to run DOJ’s Civil Division, I’ve never run a large organization, let alone at DOJ. So I’m no expert. But I’m gonna spitball that if hundreds of your subordinates want to tell you to “go fuck yourself,” you might, perhaps, have a management problem.

The Danielle Sassoon letter to AG Bondi is wow. If you have a tip about what’s going on in DOJ/SDNY, I can be reached on Signal at annabower.24 Read the letter: www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

The Attorney General of the United States — the chief *law enforcement* officer of the country — just told Apple and Google that they can break the law with impunity. Maybe you like this result; but is this the kind of country you want to live in? open.substack.com/pub/stevevla...

Trump and Musk can’t seem to locate much evidence of fraud. They keep justifying their bold moves as combating fraud, but they have been unable so far to point to much of anything specific that’s actually fraudulent, via The Post's Aaron Blake www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Purely coincidental, Reuters won a Pulitzer Prize for this investigation into Elon Musk: www.reuters.com/investigates...

False information spreads rapidly, and repeated exposure makes people more likely to believe it. Once misinformation goes viral, far fewer people see the corrections. That’s why an outrageous claim like "taxpayers paid $50 million for condoms for Hamas" should be triple-checked before being shared.

I feel like wikipedia is the only institution that was actually ready for this.

"USAID workers and their families abroad had no agency help in fleeing after looters overran their homes in Kinshasa..." apnews.com/article/trum...

The State Department has suddenly awoken to the incredible opportunity that is $400 million of expensive and impractical armored Cybertrucks www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02...

It's may soon become risky to be a journalist in the U.S. as the country turns more and more toward a Putin-style dictatorship. Over 122 journalists have been murdered in Russia since it invaded Ukraine, journalists who opposed the invasion: nuju.org.ua/list-of-jour...

Q: “You said $50 million in condoms were sent to Hamas. That wasn’t true.” Musk: “Some of the things I say will be incorrect. Nobody is gonna bat 1000.” 🤷🏻

There is a reason that Elon Musk spent $44 billion to turn Twitter into a pro-Trump disinformation site.

I want to highlight what I believe is a significant document that I reviewed for this story. It's a memorandum of understanding between DOGE & CFPB. In all the coverage of DOGE's takeover of agencies I haven't read or heard about a document like this. I think this stands out 1/

This guy must have done something egregious like stand up for the Constitution and laws of the United States.

“The American Bar Association supports the rule of law. That means holding governments, including our own, accountable under law.”

I wonder how one possibly justifies any of these actions

The Fetterman takedown is great, but you really need to watch the entirety of @chrismurphyct.bsky.social interview with This Week ABC. There are a lot of gotchas and Sen Murphy doesn’t let a single one go unresponded to www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAFQ...

Rumors that Elon Musk has bought a Super Bowl ad spot to promote disinformation on USAID. Excellent video here on the good USAID does in tbe world and the role it plays in promoting US Interests. open.substack.com/pub/asharang...

In December, NYT revealed that Elon Musk and SpaceX were failing to meet govt reporting protocol designed to protect state secrets while they haul in billions in Pentagon contracts. This triggered three reviews, according to the NYT. One was from the Defense Department inspector general. 1/

In case folks are interested in contacting their congresspeople about the NIH indirect cuts with some estimates of what they would mean for institutions in their state, here are some estimates based on published F&A rates and funding ... let me know if you want a particular state

Here is Judge Paul Engelmayer’s remarkable TRO barring (in effect) DOGE from accessing Treasury’s payment system & ordering (in effect) any DOGE person who has had access to destroy anything already copied. A short thread ... www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

NIH cuts billions of dollars in biomedical funding, effective immediately. The move halts a large slice of money for most universities and research institutions virtually overnight, imperiling vital research in everything from cancer to heart disease. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

Odds are good that someone in your life has received vital care at a university-affiliated hospital near you. Trump and Musk want to destroy them. Call your reps and demand they push back -- especially if they're Republicans. www.house.gov/representati...

"The total $6.75 million apportionments came in two bites — an initial $750,000 on Jan. 27 followed by $6 million on Jan. 30 — for “unanticipated needs” within the Executive Office of the President, according to data made public by the OMB."

Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove accuses acting FBI Director of *"insubordination"* in internal memo given to Fox News. Bove also backing off full-scale purge (says won't punish those who followed orders AND carried out duties in an "ethical" way). Now even clearer this is for retaliation.
