now that youve brought it up i actually want to make a video about it! my general favorite for casting on ribbing is tubular, for plain stockinette it's long tail. my preferred BO for ribbing on light yarn is the italian BO, on chunky it's the icelandic BO. stockinette gets the standard BO or icord!

if you have a chiaogoo set, it comes with a needle size card. you can stick the needle into whatever hole fits it best and it'll tell you what size it is (printed pretty clearly in black on white)! you can also buy one separately :)

obsessed. avant garde. iconic. chenile yarn is a nightmare to work with so this ABSOLUTELY took a lot of skill too

leave yourself a really long tail, wave in ends vertically (up and down), never go over the same area twice. it's easier to make look clean with stitches that are even and not too tight

bulky yarn isn't reeeeeally the best for Russian joins, and i genuinely can't imagine the logistics of even doing a Russian join with chainette yarn 😅 you'll never know until you try!! but usually just joining a new length + weaving in those ends has the best result regardless

i have never regretted trusting my gut and just frogging something i didn't like early on. what i always end up regretting is sticking to something because i might magically like it later. so id say, frog now before you waste a month on a project, and work up a smaller swatch to better see the yarn

i used to be obsessed with visual art, and i think the constant pressure to make perfect art and make it every day for social media killed that joy. now i just doodle and nobody sees it. I'm happier now.

debbie!! im so in awe at your knitting. your colorwork and cabling are both so beautiful and it's very rare to see them combined so much in projects!
