4. The first stage of the TdF needs to be a banger with an easy to understand storyline.
The 1st TdF stage is the most likely out of any race on the calendar to be the first cycling race someone ever watches. If it's boring, they may never watch again. If it's a banger, they may get hooked forever.

Ej men jeg kan selv huske, hvor død jeg var til alle mine SO forløb i 2.g😴 Jeg er gået fuld nørd og skriver faktisk om cykling - Hvordan sporten rejste sig efter dopingskandaler og håndterede krisen og kommunikerede det ud, og så nok noget diskusion om etik, ambitioner og penge i sporten

My stepdad used to watch all the big races, and I hated it as a kid. Then in 2022, I joined my family’s fantasy league for the Tour. Did it again in 2023 and, well... by late 2023, I was fully hooked.
