Is this SOP for hiring editors? You're asking a lot of people to spend their own time doing unpaid work who won't see a benefit from doing so... -An Engineer That Refuses Take Homes For This Reason.

Of special note: they *only* do firearms education and training NOT political action nor organizing. They actively work to avoid becoming a militia as their members are already of endangered classes (trans, queer, Black, etc)

That's not what this is. They only do firearms training and range days. They actively avoid organizing and activism.

I get that a certain amount of optimism is necessary for sanity but the idea that โ€œweโ€™re gonna vote them out of office!โ€ feels like tooth fairy shit. We all live in my grandmothers 1940โ€™s Mississippi. This thing is going to have to collapse or have the chair pulled out from under it.

People who can figured out the ropes without any formal education are extremely valuable. They tend to excel at thinking outside the box and are very self-reliant when it comes to learning new skills. A good team needs diverse backgrounds, and having everyone come from Academia is counterproductive.
