Well, I, for one, am glad that unlike in all previous wars of choice this time, we finally have a clear end goal, an exit strategy and meaningful Congressional oversight to make sure our elected leaders don't do some crazy shit

I just can't mentally process current events. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/06...

For the first time in a decade, everyone was up at the lake. 8 adults, 2 wild kids, and 4 dogs. One blurry pic to capture the moment. ❤️This is what it's all about❤️

A sad lunch story: I burnt my wrist on the pan, bet you can guess how it ends...

I'm very thankful to have a job at SRU. I have been feeling burnt out/depressed, but going to my office on this beautiful summer day reminded me how lucky I am to be at a great job, near my family, in a beautiful part of PA. There's a lot of depressing shit happening, trying to practice gratitude.

One year of laughs with my forever friend, adventure partner, and love of my life. ❤️ Get you a man that makes you smile so wide your mouth hurts.

"but I voted for Trump for the economy and to cute federal spending!" Yeah. Right.... Trump Administration Live Updates: President’s Policy Bill Could Add $2.4 Trillion to Debt, Analysis Shows www.nytimes.com/live/2025/06...

I put the medals in order. From right to left. I started running in 2013 with the Pittsburgh half in May. Most are from 2014-2020 while I was in grad school in KY... but I am glad to get back into it in PA, even if the most recent medal is sad compared to the Run the Bluegrass races!

First half marathon in 5 years! Not a PR but 2 hours and 5 minutes is also not my worst!

I thought I was starting a new project on Theophilanthropy but it turns out I am right back where I started: In the Caprara Legation. There is a strong married priest to Theophilanthropist pipeline. Who knew? Me. I should have known.

Graduation last night and a big long run. Taking a well earned nap before I get back to my mountain of grading ...

Maybe I should have put this on my Gender and Sexuality in European History class final!

www.nytimes.com/2025/04/30/u... Have these justices read the Constitution? For putting up such a show of "originalism" I would love to see how these worms are slithering around the establishment clause....

Why are airlines apps so useless?

careers.sru.edu/postings/9959 We are hiring. This is a one-year position, but the pay is pretty good! Please circulate to people who might be interested!

When did you know you were abnormally nerdy? I'll go first: I had a summer internship as an editor at the UKY Press and was reading a lot. I decided I would bring my own bookstand from home. My supervisor came in and said "where did you find the bookstand?" & I had to admit I brought it from home

I'm really having a spiral as we are feeling more and more the impact of fascism here in the US.

I always have a hard time teaching the Holocaust. This year ... Fascism is hitting different. I really have no idea how y'all can teach this event semester after semester. I need breaks!

My son (dog) is just achieved his junior hunter ribbon with the American Kennel Club. He had to pass 4 hunt tests. I am so proud of him! From a rescue pup to a hunter; we are so proud of him!

It's been almost 5 years since I ran this far. I am really proud about getting back into running after taking a five year break. But I'm much slower now....

I've got a piece up at @liberalcurrents.com clarifying whether Trump is trying to install merely an authoritarian regime or a properly fascist one in the federal government. My conclusion: we're facing Actual Fascism. www.liberalcurrents.com/yes-its-fasc...

Does anyone know any good pedagogy resources for teaching neurodivergent students in higher ed? I am having some issues with a student who is on the spectrum. I want to have an inclusive classroom that meets everyone's needs and the constant interruption is causing resentment from classmates.

The next AI learning tool to contact me is getting punted into the sun. No, I am not interested in your "AI-powered virtual TA" Lets just let AI grade the AI generated responses. Oh and make students pay for this AI circle of robots talking to each other in place of real thoughts.

I am so proud of being the Phi Alpha Theta advisor at SRU. We won the distinguished student organization award and our president won the distinguished student leader award!

The best part about seeing family is letting Moose and his cousin Luna reunite. Luna may be 10 pounds of fluff and Moose is a 70 pound Clydesdale but they play like best buddies. And they nap like buds too!

West Virginia is definitely an underrated vacation spot

I'll start! #WearingRedForEd #dayofaction #APSCUF #AFT

Are you wearing red for ed tomorrow? Reply tomorrow with your outfits and I will call one politician (either in Pa or federal)?

What is happening? How did all these boomers who grew up in the cold war end up voting for the guy that has decided to be best buds with Putin? www.nytimes.com/2025/03/02/u...

French Third Republic intellectual Ernest Renan recognized in 1882 “the existence of a nation … is a daily plebiscite” I think the US is about to find this out the hard way... hopefully, before we all bend the knee to the new empire.

The Brooklyn Public Library has announced that any teenager in America is now eligible for a Brooklyn Public Library card.

I'm at a loss. How do we convince people vaccines are good, babies dying of measles is bad? How do we convince people allying with antidemocratic and authoritarians regimes is bad and abandoning commitments to our longtime allies is catastrophic? We are the fascist bullies in the world now.

I sometimes read trash novels. I used to be too embarrassed and hide it. But I am opening up about the truly horrendous taste I have in Romantic Fantasy books. It's a comfort when reading the news is so bleak. Also, I would highly recommend disconnecting from academia whenever possible.
