Beaver releases into wild to be allowed in England for first time in centuries

Good news for #rewilding enthusiasts. Like the Iberian lynx, the bone-breaker is coming back from the brink of extinction in Spain. In the 1980s there were 30-40 bearded vultures. Now there are 1000! Source: @fbiodiversidad.bsky.social @FCQorg, @mitecogob on X

Collared doves mating on the garden gate again 🌞

The local rooks are very busy nest building today 🌞

Hawaiian crows are extinct in the wild and are found nowhere else on Earth. Now, a small group, safeguarded in captivity, has been released in the forests of Maui.

Me, pretending Monday isn’t happening. #MondayMotivation

Celandines out!

I love Cornwall.

Reintroducing wolves to the Highlands could store 1m tonnes of carbon dioxide per year, study shows - because predation & ‘landscape of fear’ effects of wolves on deer would allow natural regeneration of trees: www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Thank you to the RSPB @rspb.bsky.social for your recent support for our petition to ban driven grouse shooting. Our stances on this subject differ, but we agree that illegal killing of birds of prey & burning of peatland need to stop. This support helped us cross 60k signatures. Thank you! 1/3

Well…that’s disappointing

A trip out to my local last night turned into an unexpected chough reunion with so many chough people from over the years in! Brilliant!

Choughs visiting nest sites and ravens displaying - we got through it folks

Seeing a collared dove pair getting jiggy with it on the garden gate just now has made the day a better day

BREAKING 🚨: WE WON OUR CASE AGAINST ROSEBANK. The court has ruled the oil field UNLAWFUL and Rosebank’s approval has been overturned. This is a monumental victory in the fight for a liveable future for all.

Stop worrying about bats and newts? No Rachel Reeves MP – start worrying about the future of our economy if we tear down the nature it depends on. Nature isn’t a blocker; it’s the foundation of growth.

🦇 (1/2) In response to the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s speech today: we believe that blaming the laws that protect bats, newts and other wildlife, as well as our wider environment, for planning delays is short sighted and misguided.

Public service announcement: if you like Mogwai and haven’t got our new album yet please pick it up today or tomorrow to save us the indignity of slipping behind Ed Sheeran in the charts. Ta x

Pet owners accidentally poisoning garden birds. Our latest research finds pet flea treatments (fipronil and imidacloprid) in 100% of blue tit and great tit nests, with nestling mortality higher in the more contaminated nest. @SongBirdSBS @SussexUni @CannelleTassin

A black redstart visitor to the garden today

Today you have the choice to stare into the void OR stare into the void while listening to the amazing new Mogwai album.

Keir Starmer, your government promised bold action on climate and nature - but this isn’t it. ❌ It’s a move that risks tearing up our chances for a future where nature, people, and the economy thrive.

Calling a person the “leading guerrilla rewilder” on BBC News is quite the interesting thing.

One of 4 Choughs we saw up around Park Head on the north coast yesterday #🪶 #cornwallbirding #ukbirding #birdphotography

🦇 Please do not disturb hibernating bats. Not only is it illegal to do so but it can endanger their chances of survival as they can use vital fat reserves when they become active unnecessarily. If you find a bat in an exposed location please follow the advice on our website: https://buff.ly/47OkUZN

Choughs & eagles - the best birds

I am so sad and absolutely gutted one of those lynx has died. Beautiful animals that don’t deserve the stress that they might have been under.

Attracting younger non retired volunteers is always going to be difficult if you can’t work around their working life when you expect them to work around yours. Having been on both sides I do understand but volunteer managers just have to be more flexible if volunteers are wanted.
