These seem akin to the MUMMY figures, in the vein of "pretty fun, very fun film...now here's some toys that randomly BLOW YOUR FUCKING BALLS OFF!!!"

I remember when it was going to be a slasher/snuff-type franchise launcher AGES ago, with Dr. Gross as the tentpole antagonist. Sigh, what might have been...

I keep hoping for a definitive modern horror Man Thing, and we've come close a couple times...the movie tie-in with gorgeous Kyle Hotz art, the Dead of Night mini from the MAX days...Marvel would need the same kind of vision, and balls, that they're currently displaying with Hulk. Fingers crossed.

...I don't know of any other appearances the New Gods had made during the New 52 days. Which is a shame, because they are, historically, a criminally underused/misused corner of the DCU. I really wish someone totally out of pocket, like Pat Mills, had been able to do something with them...

I've been DEVOURING the new Hulk! Just insanely cool stuff, and definitely a horror comic...and 100%, it's like a classic Swamp Thing book, pumped full of gamma rays. I'd love to see Man Thing get a book of his own, and have them really pull out the stops!

I actually bounced after Snyder's curtain call, because the book seemed to be heading in a less horrific direction overall...maybe I'll have to go back under the hood and check Charles Soule's run out!

These one slid right past my radar...I was, however, LIVING for Scott Snyder's Swamp Thing back in the New 52 days...

In an acid-induced frenzy, myself and my best buddy watched ROCK AND RULE whilst peaking, then followed it up with STRANGE DAYS...to which my buddy eventually declared "it's the same movie!" And honestly? He was on to something.

As always, I'll put a funeral lily in my tattered top hat, and keep skipping on. It's just mildly surreal...we all look back on some time in our lives and go "fuck, that was one of the worst years of my life". I have the dubious pleasure of being able to say it about 2025 in real time. C'est la vie!
