@autisticdoctor.bsky.social says:
'Sleep deprivation is against the Geneva Convention because it’s considered a form of torture, but when #autistic people don’t sleep, it’s just “part of autism.” Why do we accept being fobbed off like that?'
As I get older, the cumulative outcome scares me

It'll be great if you can join - we've followed each others posts for a long time. But it's only for an hour, so if you're delayed, it can't be helped.

Definitely agree. But in the past there's been talk that #autistic cognitive decline probably happens faster than in the non-autistic population, so it's good to start getting some proper research. I hear Hilde Guerts is doing similar studies in the Netherlands, but I'm not up to speed on that.

The time zone difference is likely to be exhausting, just for a one hour chat, but you'd be welcome. It makes clear to me that we #AutisticElders really lack local peer networks.

Thank you - it sounds like a brilliant cafe. I've got a list now, so I'm looking forward to watching the world go by from some lovely places. ☺️

Autism research nearly always focuses on the aut-ism, not the #autistic. Prioritising the physiology over the social. Regarding us as research subjects, not people. Infant, child, adolescent, adult. No interest in adult life stages - we're past manipulation. Until cognitive decline.

Sorry if I overreacted, but thanks anyway for deleting. We've had people joining with their own agenda before & as older #autistic people have so few places to meet our peers, I'm a bit protective. They're free, affirmative events for #AutisticElders & people can leave if they don't enjoy.

Hi Haylie, our #AutisticElders meetups have been going for some years & people seem to like them- many become regulars. But it's a 'safe' space, so I'd ask that our privacy is respected & not reported on, even in DMs. We're a peer group & not up for being judged (or researched). ☺️Thanks, Cos

Every autistic UK driver has passed the same driving test as every non-autistic UK driver. That is evidence. Whereas this speculative trawl for a new autistic 'deficit' may indicate a desperate search for an academic niche.

I can't work out how being financially penalised for having a disability equates with the creation of accessible jobs? Jobs with salaries high enough to both cover the benefit deficit & 'lift disabled people out of poverty'?
Wouldn't it bel less morally corrupt if huge companies paid proper taxes?

I've been part of university research projects into Barriers to Healthcare experienced by #Autistic people. The #NHS railroading people online is a big barrier. Who cares? No-one takes responsibility. @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social is all about his political agenda.
@labourlewis.bsky.social is my MP

So tried to log into @NHS Portal. It requires a photo ID, less that 12 months old. My bus pass, drivers licence & passport photo IDs were all issued more than a year ago. Why does @nhsengland.bsky.social set me up for stress? Why are they excluding me from my own medical records?
