Very impressed by all those in the US creatively standing up against the grave insults being inflicted on their state. Slava Ukraini! Also slava the Lib Dems in Surrey.

🚨🚨In slightly underreported news, #Hungary has passed a despicable constitutional amendment allowing authorities to ban LGBT+ public events such as Pride marches – clear move toward even more authoritarianism by Orban's government.🧵 www.independent.co.uk/lgbt/hungary...

Institutions are learning the hard way, but they might be learning.

Spent the afternoon on a farm with @CalumMillerLD.bsky.social, speaking to the farmers who keep Britain fed — and of course they didn’t let us go hungry either. 🇬🇧

Wow. Harvard University says they will not comply with Trump’s demand to “audit” the viewpoints of their student body or else be defunded. More of this.

CNN's Kaitlan Collins: "Mr President, you said that if the Supreme Court said someone needed to be returned, you would abide by that." Trump: "How long do we have to answer this question from you?"

Guys Being Dudes

Definitely a crossing of the Rubicon moment 👇 A blatant exposure of the foundations of governance in the US having been shifted. A different territory now. People who voted for Trump effectively voted for obsolescence; they ushered in a system in which they are effectively non-participant.

“Home-growns”mean any of us. And with no guarantee of due process and administrative incompetence, this could be life sentences in El Salvador for any of us.

Trump is doing this right now btw

The most revolting Oval Office presser since Feb. 28 (the Zelensky one). Even just hitting a few of the lowlights of this will leave you sickened and dismayed. BUT it's also clarifying. Anyone who has been talking about "the road to authoritarianism" can stop that now. The road is behind us.

look at this crooked punk mocking American laws. this guy's government is best known for human rights abuses and death squads. and now he says he has no control over the prison.

hey @schumer.senate.gov Trump is defying the Supreme Court. what should we do now?

POTUS is telling another world leader he's going to start deporting native-born Americans, and to build more concentration camps for the inflow. This is shocking, even for Trump. I'm sure MAGA will tell us that it was just some jokey chit chat. It's not at all.

A day after Russia committed war crimes in Ukraine, and Trump is again attacking Zelenskyy – sounding indistinguishable from a commentator on Russian state TV. And repeating the Kremlin lie that Ukraine started this war. Trump casts shame on himself and our country.

These are some of the most unhinged things an American politician has ever said.

Harvard says no to Trump.

Hungary has just passed an amendment to the constitution that allows the government to ban public events by LGBTQ+ communities.

The president is conducting a press event with the primary purpose of flouting the decisions of the courts and the letter and spirit of U.S. law. It is a press event to celebrate the Constitutional crisis and serial violation of human rights he has set in motion.

infuriating that I must hand it to harvard

When will liberals stop believing the “losers of modernization” myth?! Trump voters are much less “excluded” in any meaningful sense than Democratic voters or non-voters. Trump voters are mostly “excluded” from an imaginary dominant “woke” culture, created by a far-right media machine.

Notable for a UK audience that Palantir has a significant and expanding role within the NHS…

Trump is simply unable to state the truth that Putin started the war

Yet another piece in the Sunday Times casually implying net zero is a problem for the government without any evidence or explanation as to why. Once again attacks on one of the most popular and important part of Labour’s agenda are based on little more than vibes. www.thetimes.com/article/dd42...

We've all got to keep learning, maintaining those flashing neuron connections... 👌

credit where it’s due, this is the Kremlin’s best work in years

Wait, that Palantir thing is genuine? Great suffering fuckballs! There are some takes about how we are daft to worry about giving them our health data that have aged like milk on the surface of Venus.

Trump’s response to Putin’s Palm Sunday massacre is to blame Zelensky. Disputing that Trump is Kremlin-owned is now like denying gravity. It ignores all available evidence. An international embarrassment and a national security crisis.

This really doesn't sound like much fun 👇

UK people should be aware that the government has handed large segments of British public institutions, including the NHS, to Peter Thiel's Palantir, which is currently running an overt white supremacist ad campaign.

Donald Trump, before getting elected: "I will negotiate peace in Ukraine in 24 hours." Donald Trump, 2,012 hours into his term: "I just got here. I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS." ~AA

I know UK university finance departments have bigger fish to fry right now, but it's absolutely crazy -- and so damaging to academic culture -- that they seem to have collectively decided not to have heard of 'self-employment' when it comes to guest lectures, readings, etc

The United States under Trump is so cooked anyway right now does it really matter what he says? It just goes back to more talks that drag out once his pulverised brain starts chasing the next shiny ball.

Worth reading in anticipation of how the US govt (imminently) responds to the Supreme Court's demand that it '“facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the immigrant whom Homeland Security mistakenly (by its own admission) arrested and extradited to a gulag in El Salvador' 👇

Was never keen on Thiel and co. having got their claws into our NHS data... increasingly, less and less so 😬

Again, Carney is expressing what European leaders are not yet willing to say with this clarity: "Our old relationship with the United States is over. While this is a tragedy, it is also the new reality. Canada must be looking elsewhere to expand our trade, build our economy..."

💥 Whopper scoop from @andybounds.bsky.social: Brussels is issuing burner phones & basic laptops to commissioners & senior officials travelling to the US for IMF/World Bank spring meetings next week to avoid risk of espionage — a measure traditionally reserved for China. www.ft.com/content/20d0...
