They arrested him after releasing this while he was documenting a raid. They haven't even cited him for anything #FreeAnt

A lot of those networks were built during the January fires! In some ways, the fires helped us prepare for this moment

The real heroes are the community members who showed up to hold the Dodgers accountable for letting ICE use their lots all week. The Ds put out a propaganda statement to save face after they got caught. Get real π

Literally! If they were denied entry, then how did they get in??? They had been using the lots all week, and when the community showed up to hold them accountable and kick out ICE, the Ds put out some propaganda to save face. Don't fall for it

It's truly incredible how bad the reporting on this has been. ICE had been using the lots all week and suddenly when they got caught, the Dodgers put out some propaganda to save face. The community members on the ground is the reason the Ds changed their tune.

ICE was using the lots all week to disappear people and suddenly when they got caught they changed their tune. Don't fall for the propaganda. Boycott the Dodgers

This would make too much sense for the City to do π

Whatttt. The council can just instruct the City Atty? They've been letting landlords run slum housing for decades while we've been waiting for a good City Atty and this whole time they could have done something about it??? The poor have been facing abuse in this City for so long....

In conclusion, PUBLIC HOUSING FOR ALL!!

Public Housing is not just housing for the poor. The model was designed to serve everyone! We need to prioritize those who cannot afford housing, of course. And with such few units available the projects have mostly poor residents. But this trend could easily be changed if we increase our stock!

Second, there are many people who are "over-income" (per HUDs guidelines) who still live in public housing. This is one of the strengths of the Section 9 model. Once you get into Sec 9, it's extremely difficult to lose your unit.

A good piece about architecture for the masses: jacobin.com/2016/06/zaha...

Even the towers in Chicago had green space, playgrounds, and community spaces - not carceral. Ppl often criticize brutalist architecture, but the reality is brutalism is architecture for the masses. This is an aesthetic concern that has nothing to do with the quality of the housing.

The 2 things I heard today were: public housing looks carceral and public housing is segregated and only for low-income people. First, LA public housing is all low-density garden style. Not modernist/brutalist towers like Chicago. This claim was just false.

Sometimes you just need to wait for the right conditions for a win. But in the meantime, keep asking for what you need until you get it. It's never a good decision to negotiate away the rights of the poor.
