Even as we have to make difficult decisions, our choices should leave the city stronger for years to come. Responsible budgeting means centering the long-term impacts and staying future-focused for a better Portland.

As we make these considerations, City staff face significant uncertainty, as does every Portlander who relies on services the city provides. I make a commitment to be as clear and honest as we can be throughout this process.
