They said their names in the presentations! I can see if there’s an easy way to print a nameplate out for presenters in the future.

"I think the single most impactful thing that we can do [to save money & address climate change]... is to reduce the lane mileage in our city... Every mile of road is a liability of unfunded operations and maintenance." - Councilor Mitch Green comes out w a bold idea!! 👀😲

Glad it’s helpful! I’ll admit it’s hard to keep up with the updates and newsletters right now because I only have one staffer but once our second hire is onboarded things will be a bit easier.

@councilordunphy.bsky.social brought this up as well! I’m excited to learn more about his vision for this.

If the Zenith resolution makes it out of the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, it could to go to full Council on 3/5
It is in Council President Pirtle-Guiney's hands to make that happen. President has the power to delay it by 90 days, but Councilor Green and I have had good convos with her

If for whatever reason a policy does not get 3/5 votes to make it out of committee, the policy champions can get 4 supporters from outside the committee to force it to come to full Council. I doubt that will be necessary in this case.

The Zenith resolution is going through the Infrastructure Committee and not the Climate Committee because our resolution calls for an investigation into the franchise agreement, not the LUCS (Land Use Compatibility Statement)
Policies have to go through committee and get 3/5 votes to go to Council

@councilorgreen.bsky.social is our resident expert on that ✨ a few councilors are interested in that too

That’s something I’m interested in and I’m sure the committee will be exploring as a whole!

We can’t do more until we have more information, this is why we’re starting this process.

I have not! To be honest I think it’s unclear for everyone right now because Trump is issue no so many executive orders, some that end up being backtracked. Most agencies do not know which funds will be taken or not.

Given the discrepancies between the information we’ve received from city staff, Zenith, and outside experts, an independent investigation has become increasingly important for transparency.
These are huge contracts, there’s a lot of money to be made. We have to have strong oversight.

I was addressing this legally not personally, so people understand the parameters.

Proud to have worked with @councilorgreen.bsky.social to bring this resolution forward. I hope whatever comes of the independent investigation puts our questions and the community’s questions to rest, and reinstates trust in local government and process.

Not a competition but I think mine are worse 🤭

I’ve been in office for a month, so you’re actually upset at the old City Council lol

It’s going to impact us locally and we will have to factor this in for budget decisions around shelters. Highly relevant, imo.

Unfortunately the federal issues will absolutely be hitting us at the local level. Our funding is tied together. bsky.app/profile/alex...

Not saying this is my dream scenario btw, just stating what I’m seeing.

Police are still responding to protests. If those protests happen at a random park, or at an ICE building, or at the mall, etc they will be there. We need to be precise when insinuating police are working with ICE for deportations because this can create unnecessary fear for immigrant communities.
comment in response to
post
Police are still enforcing laws but they’re jurisdictionally prohibited from assisting ICE.
Our democratic society is also waning but that’s a separate discussion.
comment in response to
post
People have to be more detailed when they throw things out like this or it will feed unnecessary panic. Useful information includes: date, time, photos, how were they collaborating with ICE? Etc. everything else is conjecture and does not help with accurate threat assessment.

Portland is a Sanctuary City, which means that it is against Oregon law for state and local law enforcement or public agencies (state and local government offices) to participate directly or indirectly in immigration enforcement without a judicial warrant.

I was clued in by @councilormorillo.bsky.social's helpful posting on instagram in a game effort to explain. She uses the word "triage" several times, appropriately, given what I've heard about Councilors' current email volumes. 3/
