HI IM BEE! 💖 I'm proud of some of redraws of old artwork I did recently. I always love seeing my style improve, even if it is hard to look at old work 😅🫣

Alan Moore had a point he was making. He wasn't subtle. I think this is bad, he said, and I'm going to figure out why.
The comic had a solid ending that conclusively made a statement about it's premise... and for my money, the TV Series fails at that, abysmally. 13/13

These are questions the series will never answer because the series lead doesn't want to. There's an argument, I'm sure, that it's better this way. The gaps are where the audience can come to their own conclusions, after all.
OG Watchmen was no where near this unsatisfying. 12/13

trieu's fascist goals were the similar to the klan's, sure, but it's hard to hear her say that "manhattan could have done more but didn't" and not see her point.
Will angela do more in his place? DID she take his place? Can someone with her own faschy hangups actually do any better? 11/13

angela tries to talk trieu down but is ultimately helpless and alone. I GUESS you could argue that her and manhattan's love saved... something? But it seems more like all their love did was give trieu an opportunity. 10/13

But these themes seem to be dropped right at the end, because the only conclusion the writers could find for the situation they'd written themselves into was... this. laurie nearly dies because she refuses to hide her intentions. wade disguises himself as a klan member and is afraid to drop it. 9/13

I was hoping by the time I got to to the end of this thread that I'd have a solid conclusion for these thoughts, but mostly I just find myself irritated. This was a series that, on the outset, seemed to have two guiding themes it wanted to explore: that mask make people cruel and fascists suck. 8/13

Arguably, nothing the "protagonists" did ever mattered, except maaaaybe laurie arresting adrian for his og crimes, but we never get to see whether or not that did anything/stuck. What we're left with is the same two men in masks saving everyone again exactly the way they did before. 7/13

To add injury to insult, even will wasn't allowed to do anything for himself in the end. Despite spending 80-100 years investigating cyclops, the only reason he found out about their ultimate plan was Manhattan's timey-wimey deus ex machina. 6/13

From that point on, the only characters who do jack shit are manhattan, adrian, and trieu. Who stops the klan? trieu. Who gets adrian where he needs to be? manhattan. Who saves the day? adrian. 5/13

Then the last two episodes happen. Up to this point, angela, wade, laurie, and will have been very active. They investigating things, make plans, execute them, do all that protagonist shit. This stops the second that manhanattan is revealed, wade is "assassinated," and laurie is captured 4/13

Adrian's plotline is present throughout, sure, but it feels like a side tangent about an old villain, and while the spectre of manhattan looms over everything, as a character he doesn't seem to have a direct influence in events for the majority of the run. 3/13

Throughout most of the series, the chief protagonist is angela, with side help from wade, and a tense frenemies situation with laurie. (i'm squashing things down, but in a general overview I feel it's accurate.) You can probably throw Will in there, too, especially if we're counting Laurie 2/13

OK, weirdly, neither the gif or the webp seem to animate properly on bsky. Anyone know how to work around this?

omg right? Their party 1000% knows and are SO tired of watching them dance around each other. Which they probably wouldn't be, but he has self worth issues, and she's oblivious to her own feelings. The drama~

Here we have a slow burn romance (with possible elements of second chance) between...
Tomi, a wandering monk who seems convinced he's evil by nature (but fights it,) & Liwayway, a cheerful force for good with a family legacy to uphold. They're basically married, they just don't acknowledge it.
