THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A “TRADE DEFICIT”—IT’S JUST CALLED “BUYING THINGS.” YOU DO NOT HAVE A TRADE DEFICIT WITH YOUR DENTIST JUST BECAUSE HE NEVER BUYS ANYTHING FROM YOU.

funniest fucking way to violate the One China policy lmao

JUST IN: Judge James Boasberg has been assigned to the Signalgate lawsuit.

My dissertation defense is next week!! DM me for the Zoom link if you’re interested in hearing more about drivers of bacterial diversity on coral reefs (like environmental conditions, larval recruitment, and SCTLD)!

I know my brain has been pickled by the interned because... ... the radio started catching two channels at once on my drive home the other day. Instead of getting annoyed at the impromptu, out-of-sync mashup all I could think of was: "Screw you! I only listen to DOUBLE MUSIC!" 😆

Been thinking about the sentiment expressed in the 2nd-to-last sentence here. I think that identifying and promoting positive non-patriarchal masculinity is difficult but worthwhile; it gets easier when you realize it points you diametrically away from everything JD is

I feel like a lot of y'all will resonate with "No kings, only trains".

Political liberalism has a lot of flaws but one of the cool things about it is how it's constructed around the insight that monarchy is a fundamental affront to human dignity 👍

“I am a king and my will is law” isn’t a clever distraction from what he’s doing, it’s the central underlying justification for everything he’s doing.

I had pertussis as a kid. Terrible cough — couldn't sleep, often felt like I couldn't breathe. Thankfully cases like mine are rare in the US due to vaccines. ... hopefully they stay rare.

If Pisa can make big tourist $$$ off their leaning tower, do we think we can get some more commercial tenants moving in to Carlyle with our new landmark? 🤔

Government should NOT be financially efficient Government SHOULD be resilient We learned in 2020 what happens when a highly efficient system (food delivery!) suffers a blow - catastrophe We want government to be resilient so that when there is a blow, it can recover with minimal harm to citizens

Coming this summer from the Trump-led Kennedy Center: Legally Blonde! Now centered on the successful adventures of Warner, who (the show takes pains to confirm) was right to leave that blonde ex-girlfriend behind

This is considered ethnic cleansing under international law. I called Beyer, Kaine, and Warner today to let them know that I recognize this as ethnic cleansing, that I oppose ethnic cleansing, and that it erodes our standing on the world stage. I asked them to fight against this & for USAID.

Called Rep. Beyer today. Thanked him for organizing & speaking out for USAID — both for USAID's sake and for our constitutional order. Affirmed that we are facing a constitutional crisis & that he should keep it up. IIUC, congressional offices hear lots of negativity. Positive reinforcement works!
