This was my experience as well. A whole lot of lost access to friends' (and my own) posts because of beefs, migrations or imploding instances.
When dot art cut me off from my friends because the owner didn't like how long the other instance deliberated moderation decisions for I just gave up

I've actually been living out here in Cluj for a few years now but everyone's English is so good and they switch to it whenever I'm around that I've barely *needed* to learn for day-to-day stuff.
But if I want to apply for citizenship, my level of competency is just *not enough*
