if they are, we are screwed. they are t-shirt hawkers that took over the handle years ago from people that did work in the parks

i got into it because of the history, but the ones where he walks by a thames tributary or through a forest or over a meadow are the best anxiety reducers i have found this year. it’s the sort of nice, enthused stuff that would be on daytime bbc when i was a little kid

it’s this fella, i’d recommend one of the ‘lost rivers of london’ videos as a good starting point, as it spans so much history

having (on some undefined principle) avoided youtube people up until now, i’ve started watching this guy who endlessly walks around london talking about all the history of it. it’s borderline grandad behaviour

nah, it's a noun, like "gonnae gies a collie buckie?" scots is so slack though, that you could call it a collie-buckie ride without anyone blinking an eye
comment in response to post
it's "collie buckie' in scotland, which i've persisted with in this country

seems like they are the wrong people for the job then

we had a similar generational thing with Scots where it was thought of as low and common (derogatory) and that you'd never get ahead speaking that way. there's a real effort now to maintain it as a living language, i'm glad Gaelic is getting the same care & engagement with its people there.

nah, it's simpler than that, he's a stupid wanker

yeah, like, eleanor rigby and hey jude are incredible, but mccartney has never let himself be utterly miserable in song. best you can get, negative emotionally, is some early irritated grumpiness. and there's lots of great miserable people that never touch the super light flying happy that brian did

imagine if, for all his grandstanding, newsom (or any democratic leadership) could articulate this
comment in response to post
how is it that the only ones that have died are the wilsons?
comment in response to post
there isn’t another musician that helps me to feel all my feelings like brian. maybe rem?

the story of him hearing be my baby on his car radio, pulling over, and laying down by the side of the road is everything you need to know about him

when i was 22 i shunted my brain out of a crippling bout of depression with pretty much nothing but the beach boys’ 60s output (and then the 70s stuff was there when i inevitably got depressed again)
comment in response to post
nah, fuck him

this is how i found out

you know, you're right, it's totally the fault of malicious actors that we are here. the people that stood by and let it happen bear no responsibility let alone blame
comment in response to post
they could have easily have gotten rid of him that day. the case was open and shut, just take the vote. there's a reasonable argument for having had him up against a wall by sundown
comment in response to post
they didn't try to impeach him january 6th. they twiddled their thumbs and allowed panicked republicans to get back on message
comment in response to post
yup, they had their chance on january 6th and they whiffed it
comment in response to post
where’s chaucer when you need him?

i can't say i have much faith left in the rule of law. for example, if a single one of those cops faces actual consequences for the firing of those rounds i will be amazed (and even if they did, i can think of someone who'd be happy to pardon them/put them on the grift circuit)
comment in response to post
i get that, but when people are forced into a moral choice and have to decide what they can live with, we owe it to them (and to ourselves) to support them in their bravery. regardless of the downstream effects, what they did was right in the moment

who do you think your concern is going to aid when it comes down to it? people should stand by as their neighbors are abducted? pick a side and stand behind it

the sand in that bag makes even less sense then
