I think that’s all I’m going to say about the character on my own outside of replies and whatnot from now on. Gives me a headache. Every aspect of this fanbase somehow manages to read as individuals experiencing fandom for the first time.

I do not think the problem lies with people bringing up canon aspects of Mel’s character so much as the writers and artists who put Mel in that position and gave her those parallels as a Black character, knowing they didn’t plan on giving her the development to go with it.
