At E3 1998 (which was in May) Nintendo was still publicly using a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time logo that looked nearly identical to Link To The Past. This timeline suggests they created the new logo & published the materials (game/manual/box/promo art/advertising etc) in less than 6 months!
