A friend of mine edited one of these pictures of her under tow and it’s so beautiful, I could cry 🥹
I just wish she had passed closer to shore so I could see her one last time. 😔

Well, before we get into that, we have to do… The Goddamn News.

There’s a famous song I could quote here, but I’m not feeling adventurous today 😅

Been busy since 2016 in the Air Force (flying a desk 😅) and getting to travel the world sometimes, but still finding some time to enjoy trains wherever I can!

One interesting tidbit about the “Marlboro Unlimited” is the model train used in the promotional video. It was built by the late Jack Sessums, who did the train crash sequences for “Tough Guys” (1986) and “Money Train”, among many projects.

This was likely a way to get a quick cover photo until the actual models were finished.

For reference, the steam tram engine is tentatively named “Dr. Shrimp Puerto Rico”…
I lowkey wanna name the diesel “David Crappenshitz” 😂😂😂

I never doubted that for a moment 😊 But since the new one has updated electronics, and the older one seemed to have issues the last time I saw it, will it still get the occasional run?

Given that I dropped nearly $700 on my Rapido 2816, this is valid 😅
Only question is… what will you do with your old Turbo? 🤔

There’s not a lot of footage on that trip, sadly. Even my shaky-ass onboard footage is one of the rare POVs of that excursion.
700 led on the trip to Wishram and 4449 led the return to Portland.

No, not even that. She doubleheaded with 4449 during the 2005 NRHS Convention (A trip I had the pleasure of riding!)

It would be nice, but that’s the equivalent of 611 at Strasburg. A big engine like that needs mainline caliber track to perform at its best.
4449 last saw the mainline in 2018 and 700 was last on a big mainline trip twenty years ago (Christ, I feel old…)

She got a bit skittish when 6133 honked lol 😂

In the movie, there are other passengers who take the Galaxy Express 999. However, they don’t travel the full route to La Metal (the home of Queen Promethium).
