It’s not about being complicit in anything, it’s about understanding political realities. Dismissing entire communities as obstacles to justice isn’t a viable strategy for power, it’s alienating a key constituency. If the goal is policy change, we need coalitions that win, not purity tests.

Trump has openly admitted this since 2016. He’s clearly enamored with fascist leaders like Putin, Duterte, and Bukele and wants to be one himself. That’s the crux of this.

i am exhausted by the constant attacks on democrats making comprises to win state wide office. If you think you can trash Israel all day long and not pay a price for that with the Jewish community, especially in NJ, you are not serious about winning power.

I’d rather read 5 volumes of chatGPT gibberish than read a single sentence written by Jake tapper.

What’s the point in engaging in these infantile debates? No one outside a narrow group of privileged people near college campuses in NYC/LA ever discuss this sort of thing at length. You should consider discussing how to mobilize voters instead of dividing people up by ideology. It’s a waste.

Delta force def did this bullshit too when I was in Iraq. They’d come shoot the place up, kill women and children, and us regular grunts had to endure the madness they’d unleashed while they run their mouths in podcasts now. US will never even try to hold anyone to account.

I think it’s highly important that whether you’re a liberal or progressive, we stop the infighting and work on beating fascism from here on out. I hope people learned their lesson from this past election with liberal versus progressive fighting and stop wasting time and money on it.

Yeah this org was very inexperienced and I think they just wanted to be close to power because we we achieve nothing other than pictures for donors with members of Congress.

I’m not gonna name names, but I’ve definitely been asked difficult things and like to go recite military trauma to an aloof Joe Manchin staffer and bawled my eyes out for months while the org staff enjoyed the back slaps from donors. That org is irrelevant now and barely afloat now. Just sayin.

Also I understand the military perspective is not totally translatable because if you’re a sergeant, you can also compel people to do what the mission requires, but you lose respect if you ask people to do things you obviously refuse to do and erodes trust within the org.

I don’t know, but I hope this is helpful. This has been a very interesting discussion. I’m glad to have participated in it, thanks for pondering with us on a Sunday.

My personal thing is I never wanna be involved with strategic organizations that played gatekeeper. And I’d never ask anyone to go down to the AFLCIO or DCCC to get yelled at by a targeting officer. If anything, I’d do that myself and maybe take someone to observe and learn.
