"The diversity of sexual phenotypes across species is vast and spectacular" & so is this delightful story. Thanks to @professormaney.bsky.social for showing how white-throated sparrows are more proof that we shouldn't "flatten nature’s wondrous diversity into two categories, male and female." 🧪

The Golden Mile is finally happening. This represents years of hard work and will bring life back to our city. Dunedin, Auckland and Christchurch have successfully revitalised their city centres; it is now our turn. #nzpol wellington.govt.nz/news-and-eve...

I think solar farms on farm land should be designed to have dual purpose: a win-win for climate and ag enterprises Amid concerns about use of prime ag land, impact on the local community, there may be “a lot of local interest” in co-locating solar with existing agriculture. #agrivoltaics #agsky

I read about temps above freezing at the North Pole, so went looking at Arctic sea ice extent. Yikes - it's going backwards in mid-winter! nsidc.org/sea-ice-today

That’s that then. Humans behind both the hazard and the vulnerability to the fires. Climate change made LA fires worse. But don’t blame the impact on the fires only, that’s also caused by human decisions. www.bbc.com/news/article...

It’s a record - Christchurch cyclists clock 4 million trips in a year. The big numbers in the article are great but I like the embedded video. It features a cyclist who cannot drive and uses a bike as their main transport. Cycle lanes are mobility lanes and need to provide safe space for all.
