Yeah, like some other commenters here, it does seem plausible to me. The frustrating bit is that too many of them just see this as a reason to be greedier and buy more into the pernicious golden straitjacket of capitalism.

Itās really good right? I usually hate horror, but it strikes a really good balance.

And that brings us back to the initial point. The problem with the system is not strictly an āaffordable housingā problem; itās that not everyone has housing. Letās say it again: The issue is āhousingā, pure and simple, whether people have it or not. So letās start there. /š§µ

Itās not entirely homeownersā or developersā fault. Our market makes it clear how valuable an asset it is to have a house. And developers are just part of the cycle of endlessly seeking profit maximization. So we inevitably get to the point that itās the system that needs change.

Obviously the answer to the housing crisis is partially *both* finding ways to rein in the cost of housing *and* increasing its supply. So whatās the problem then if weāre full of answers? As is so often the case, itās really just about greed, from homeowners and developers.

On the flip side, obviously housing cost is at the problemās root. But itās also why supply-and-demand economics is useful. Because demand for housing will likely remain high, & supply is artificially kept low by keeping prices high. Do we lower prices or increase supply?

Yeah, it really is hard to come by, and seemingly getting worse and worse as time goes on. But this is helpful, thank you very much!

As a cishet white man who ran for state legislative office on Medicare for All, economic democracy, and housing and restorative justice, among other things, and caused mainline Dems to running screaming for the hills myself, I can see why youād run into some trouble.
