You can tell what a person truly believes because they will still believe it even when it is detrimental to them. If it's true when it helps you it's still true when it hurts you.

I used to have a good understanding of where the world would be in like 5-10 years. Like you can make plans and have good odds of seeing them come to fruition even if surprises happen along the way. I no longer have any idea of what the future looks like. Complacency has eaten America's brain.

They are depraved so they can't understand duty or loyalty as they can't see personal gain in it. So they don't trust an integrated army because it doesn't make sense to them. An army based on fear and control makes much more sense to them on a visceral level even if it's objectively much worse.
