I wish the US had spent all its XP on minivans instead of SUVs. We could have stuff like the Lexus LM. Not that I'd ever buy one but just look at the interior of this thing

April is the month of the military child, which I always call Child Soldier Month

Azula is the longest cat I've known. Look at those arms!

Every time I see pictures from Musk at CPAC, I think about how, a decade ago, the fear was it was young women who would get addicted to social media attention and destroy themselves. And that has happened, but nothing competes with what happened to middle-aged men.

ok so what gets called "gender ideology" is jsut like "be who and how you want" and what gets called "not ideology" is like "follow these specific unwritten rules and perform these forbidden rituals according to the circumstances of your birth"

"farmers are apoplectic. In Ohio, they’re stressed about USAID contracts and USDA cost-sharing investments. They held up their end. The government made promises. Now their family farms and livelihoods are on the line. Billions of dollars are at stake. It’s all being held hostage by Musk and Trump."

Among those Trump and Musk fired at the FAA: - Lawyers who help keep drunk or reckless pilots out of the skies - Air traffic control support staff - Employees who track potential new flying hazards like cranes - Staffers who medically clear pilots to fly www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

This @nature.com piece on the devastating impact of the Trump administration's vindictive and reckless attack on science is chilling. And following the Project 2025 playbook there is still more to come. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

If leftist viewpoints had a 24/7 propaganda machine producing real world harm, respondents would probably feel a little differently

jumping from $50M/yr to $40M *per month* does not sound very efficient to me, if i'm being honest

I remember reading this when it was published. Libertarians set out to build their utopia - it goes poorly

Perfect creature

just saying: it's possible that "I'm gonna dramatically constrict my state capacity while plotting dramatic imperial expansion, and expanding my set of internal enemies while alienating most of my foreign allies" is the beginning of a world-historical masterstroke. but also possible that it isn't

I gotta give myself hope with a daily reminder that all of these people are scheming viziers who will happily stab each other in the back

IDK man if a movement I was evenly slightly attached to made jokes in gleeful anticipation of human suffering it would give me pause

This absolutely owns

(redditor voice) they should really be called pie -crust- weights

Trump has pardoned more pedophiles than any president in history. Makes you think

The geniuses at the Democratic Party settling on “maybe we were too woke” rather than “a cabal of billionaire pedophile Nazis are stealing your money and taking a sledgehammer to your future” is astonishing. Just one of those things

The new Trump administration has illegally removed far more people from their jobs because of speech and beliefs in the last month than the entire list of cancelled or pressured people (many of whom were criticized, not fired) compiled by FIRE and others over years. It’s not remotely close.

donald trump has ordered the IRS to hand over all of your personal information to a Holocaust denier who works for the richest man on Earth, who is a Nazi

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

Feeling like a posthumous pardon for Jefferson Davis is not off the table

1/29: First plane crash in 16 years in DC 1/31: Crash in Philly 2/5: Delta flight struck in Seattle 2/6: Flight wrecks in Alaska 2/10: Crash in Scottsdale 2/12: Military jet crashes in San Diego 2/16: Crash in Covington, GA 7 crashes since the WH congratulated itself for “restoring aviation safety”

Real people are being hurt by this illegal government purge by Elon Musk & Donald Trump. Read this from "Ranger Brian" Gibbs who was fired from his National Park Service job in Iowa. Just devastating. 1/

Anytime a storm is brewing, your local forecasters are getting the latest data from NOAA. As the agency faces an uncertain future, one thing's for sure: for-profit companies would struggle to replicate NOAA's weather-forecasting prowess.

Couldn't be clearer that Democrats aren't a party in the way that Republicans are a party. The GOP has an ideological project. They build power to accomplish specific things. The project of the Democratic Party is getting Democrats reelected. 80-90+% of Congress is, so it doesn't take much effort.

SKEET THREAD: There’s a lot I could say about this argument, but since in the end it all boils down to this paragraph, let me just address this.

By forcing huge numbers of American workers in government, academia, aid, and nonprofits into sudden unemployment, the Musk/Trump junta will almost certainly set off another stupid-ass recession.

reading the Declaration of Independence and it is so fucking wild to me how Trump is literally doing like 75% of this

Awful: Internal USAID memo instructs employees to refrain from talking to the media about cuts in assistance to the most vulnerable or they may get fired, WaPo reports. Trumpworld knows this is a big political problem for them. Keep the focus on it. New piece: newrepublic.com/article/1915...

Pretty telling that the comparison here is “someone scolding you via a video you saw on Facebook that you found annoying” and “complete disregard for legal protections and long standing peaceful cooperation between nations”. It’s actually pretty accurate to how conservatives view the world

If I disclosed this on my sf86 I'd be put down like a dog

fascism is the kicking in of a rotted door, and the dem party has been committed for the last 15 years to insisting that the door we can all see is rotten and falling off the hinges is actually fine and good and maybe the best door in the world

This comment on r/fednews really stood out to me. Trump and Musk want people to think they're firing do-nothing "bureaucrats," but they're really getting rid of people dedicated to serving this country and keeping it operational. I hope these stories get told.

Jfc we're really gonna have to reinvent the government from first principles
