Thank you for confirming that I’m not the only one who needs to do this. It’s ridiculous.

I mention it, I mention it!! Labour’s dismantling of the covid protections led NZ to where we are today. The current govt was only too happy to completely ignore any dregs of protections Labour left in place. I was already NOT a Labour voter but that move also lost any respect I had for them.

Exactly!

You’re the FIRST person they should be asking!

Oh no Julie that’s TERRIBLE! I am so glad it wasn’t worse. I hope someone was there to help you. What an ass that driver is. I hope someone got his details to pass to police (for whatever that will be worth).

@dimsie.bsky.social item #6 on this list!! (Scaled, in NZ this would surely be nationally-owned supermarkets). 😀

PS @kimtairi.bsky.social I CANNOT WAIT to see your wedding outfit. It will be incredible I am certain.

Oh what happy news!! Ka Rawe!! Congratulations to you both. This is just lovely. 🥰

Good luck! Dizziness is no fun at best and can be debilitating at its worst.

Gah! Toe not tow!

I’m not naive. Candidates can easily make their positions known without being endorsed by a political party. And what about candidates who aren’t necessarily aligned with one party or another? I don’t want my councillor or mayor having to tow any line because they’re in a voting block, for ex.

Yep.

Twice over the years I’ve had an inner ear problem that gave me terrible dizziness with no pain at all. Dr thought it was crystals in the cochlea and I was prescribed tablets which helped a lot. Might pay to see a GP?

I don’t know if there will be a R candidate? The current mayor is running as an independent. The election isn’t until November. It’s a lot!!
comment in response to post
It’s a puzzle! Maybe inner ear infection?
comment in response to post
Today is just the primary for a democratic candidate, not the actual mayoral election.

Have you recently (or maybe now) had covid? There is a well-established link between the two.

Ātaahua!!

There are actually lots of independent book stores in Aotearoa! And we are lucky to have BookHub, a fab website that allows us to search all their inventories for any book, with links to their online shops), so we can support local book shops all across the country.

Clearly laying out Seymour’s hypocrisy.

I’d like to know the exact wording of the question about gold mining in the South Island asked by Vanessa Weenink (my MP). A patsy question, I’m assuming.

Oh WOW!!!

Thanks for posting about it!

Studied thousands of responses on Twitter, & esp. Facebook to David Seymour's sustained harassment campaign against leading academics in New Zealand. That a Deputy PM is behind the resulting harms, incl. rampant misogyny, bile, & gendered harms is to my mind unprecedented in New Zealand.

Oh I meant just my (same) bandana, not my hair! I am not brave when it comes to mixing up my hair look. 😆

This has inspired me to look up different ways to wear mine! 😊

@notsailingalone.bsky.social Stanford recently spoke at a SPELD meeting. I wonder how that org has reacted to her comment that all brains learn the same way.

Ditto for kids with dyscalculia, dyspraxia etc!
comment in response to post
One of my teens has dyscalculia. For her, this learning disability makes some (but not all) aspects of maths thinking extremely difficult, regardless of the pace or amount of practise. Schools in NZ are really poorly equipped to recognise or support this LD and specialist tutors are rare and $$$!

2. The reason there are no widespread mitigations against SARS-CoV-2 infection is due to (a) as a result of the initial lockdowns in 2020, 'Covid' is a toxic word for politicians - speaking about it is a vote killer, (b) generalised incompetence across public health bureaucracies

Fab thank you Jessica. Lifesaver.

Yep it does thanks. We were actually going to head out to Carey’s Bay but it’s too hard at the moment lol. We’re very close to Copper and noticed it looked all closed up! We’ll take our chances at Long Dog.
comment in response to post
@jdeheij.bsky.social I am right in guessing that both Long Dog and The Duck will be heaving today? We’ve got the dog with us so finding a table is proving HARD.
