Also, avoid spray painting it. I know this may limit its outdoor life, but there's an even greater signal attenuation with most primers/outdoor spray paint

Addendum to this: Use a PVC pipe for the antenna enclosure. Give some distance above and below the antenna before using the end caps (1/2" or 12-13mm diameter pipe will do since the tube is 10mm)

It's very similar to coax collinear DIY antennas you'll find all over the place

You'll need to cut the tubes, up to 10mm in diameter, into segments of 1/2 wavelength (up to 8 total), with 1/4 wavelength sections at the start and end. Basic household electrical copper wire can be the core with HDPE sheets acting as spacers (can be from old milk jugs)
