Tolkien’s palantir fell under the control of Sauron. Peter Thiel’s Palantir is falling under the control of Trump. How this story ends is up to all of us. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/palantir-the-worst-of-the-corporate

Job Garcia’s kidnapping by the Trump administration is the top story on the LA Times website right now. www.latimes.com/california/s...

The idea that a school should be prepared to reward a well-argued paper for a bad position is fine in principle, but if we're not total nihilists, we'll also recognize that there are positions for which it's inherently impossible for a defense to be "well-argued."

In the Trump administration, if your information is inconvenient, they fire you. With Elon Musk, he will recode until you tell him what he wants to hear. These are not people who like to be troubled with reality.

As I've been saying www.readtpa.com/p/the-grok-w...

A lesson of WWII and the Nuremberg trials is that in fact there is little moral distinction between inspiring and promoting genocide and being the one to actually pull the trigger.

though the Journal doesn't indicate its sourcing, this is the most direct reporting i've seen that Miller was responsible for defying Judge Boasberg's order to turn around the El Salvador rendition flights (Axios said only that he and Noem orchestrated the flights)

This may be Trump’s worst (and most dangerous) power grab yet. When will Congress step up and reassert its power?

As I have argued for months: The person calling the shots in this admin was never Musk or Bannon or Susie Wiles. It's always been Shadow President Stephen Miller. Anything Trump says on e.g. immigration is cheap talk; Miller is the decider. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

This morally rotten. What is wrong with out country? www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...

Yes. Stephen Miller literally overrode the Secretary of Agriculture on worksite raids. She convinced Trump to back her, he publicly announced a new policy, and Miller got that entire thing overturned in a matter of days and made Trump publicly back his vision instead.

the takeaway from this is that, for all practical purposes, stephen miller is the acting president of the united states. trump is just play-acting as the boss, as he did on the Apprentice. (gift link) www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

The Dilley detention center doesn't have good water because of all the fracking nearby. I volunteered there several years ago & it's a nightmare.

Stop your worry. Take a deep breath. This

The only business Trump has been successful at is conning people.

This is an insurrection.

Two members of the National Guard were worried ICE would grab her at her immigration hearing so they accompanied her, in uniform www.tiktok.com/t/ZTjW54SmP/

What a deeply heartfelt and yet screwed up situation.

The license plate thing is actually something I’d been having questions about (were they using government plate, for example). Knowing that there’s actually none at all makes it much worse.

The gradual centralization of the US political system has stoked policy instability, with presidents now ruling by emergency powers and executive action. Writer @alasdairroberts.bsky.social‬ asks: What happens when the wrong person’s in charge? thewalrus.ca/trump-presidency/

The Department of Defense was created to protect us, but who is going to protect us from THEM?

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III. Sound familiar?

The suggestion that Kristi Noem, a white woman, is the "delicate, beautiful, tiny" victim after a Latino man is physically dragged out of a room fits into the admin's pretext of criminality it attaches to people who are not white. Like Rep. LaMonica McIver.
