This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

Don't be modest, @nytimes.com, @theatlantic.com, @theguardian.com. Take a bow. What a beautiful atrocity you've built.

“Trump has liberated a lot of people from the last vestiges of the Sermon on the Mount. A lot of people turn out to have been sick and tired of pretending to be good.” www.nybooks.com/online/2020/...

All mayors everywhere are bad and weird right now

Minnesota-based writers: we're looking for culinary pitches centered around immigration stories. Connections between restaurants and overseas hometowns, multigenerational evolution of concepts/menus, etc. all of interest. Aiming to commission a couple longer works. [email protected]

Happy Valentine’s Day

stockpile meds? buddy i can barely get them to refill my prescriptions on time and sometimes it's 30 pills for a 90 day 'script because that's all they got

Only in the last few years did I finally take responsibility for my own mental health and get prescribed medication to manage my depression. Cruel and twisted for those of us who have received the benefits of treatment to be endangered by these narcissistic quacks.

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges. This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

More shadow cabinets please

a maximalist strategy of opposition against every nominee as unqualified would have stood a better chance of creating the kind of public outrage that might have led to more republican defections, but i'm sure the imaginary family that chuck schumer relies on to guide his decisions disagreed

The people who got us here are in fact not the ones who can get us out.

I feel like I’m trapped in a burning building with the arsonist and a helpless imbecile who wants to negotiate the existence of fire

not a new observation but Elon Musk genuinely isn't very bright, genuinely has no idea how most things work, and his entire supergenius engineer persona is a tech press-enabled mythology (they've never been held accountable for)

Jeffries is shaping up to be a colossal disaster, and my expectations were already low

Our greatest enemy in this new army will be rabdo

Put me and the restaurant industry in charge of the pentagon plz

awoo 30

A big part of crime prevention is honestly more people being around other people.

if the president’s lackeys can functionally seize control of treasury funds and dismantle a congressionally-created agency without consequence, it’s not that it’s a constitutional crisis as much as it means the constitution is vapor.

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

This is the same mealy mouthed bullshit we used to get from pelosi

Love something the way the wolves love playing teams they’ve owned in the playoffs

Wow. it must feel terrible when someone takes something you made and uses it without permission or payment

lmao

Oh no

If I hear “kitchen table issues” one more fucking time

Oh this is good, good news. Also, if you're still using Amazon and not Bookshop -- I mean, c'mon, use Bookshop when you can, please and thank you. (Or, obviously, the library.)

Minnesota last year eliminated prison gerrymandering. A law, signed by Governor Tim Walz, will end the practice of counting incarcerated people where prisons are located, which skews political power within the state. boltsmag.org/minneso...

🙁🙁🙁

I feel like the analytical philosophy department and law school professors at the U have been spending their off hours together
