Brittlebush ❤️

Love it when the air plants develop their flowers, beautiful little guys

Ever since my dad died on January 27, I've been slipping down the Anita Blake slope because the books are fun and sexy and require exactly one brain cell to enjoy. One thing people don't ever mention about grief: how fucking weird it can be.

Was thinking about how, years ago, I got to meet Nobuhiko Obayashi at a special Hausu screening in Los Angeles. He insisted on walking along and greeting the waiting line of people one by one, introducing himself, and shaking everyone's hand. Class act.

Was going through my photos, and remembered meeting this huge fellow several years ago. Derobrachus hovorei, the palo verde beetle. Absolutely massive.

Out of town and missing this guy.

Found this cute little fella in No Man's Sky - he is now my favorite companion

Mama Lavender is getting a little big for her space. I didn’t realize she’d flowered, nor that she’s pupping again.

Brought out one of my early knitting projects because it’s cozy, cuddly, and cat-approved.

Christmas morning glamor shot, aka “where are the goddamned catnip lollipops you ordered”

With a little cursing, installed the extra 2tb ssd and new upgraded ram, very pretty rgb effect!

She’s just eyes and floof

Here, have a huge blurry kitty blep

No one ever mentions that moment after the worst day of the flu, the one where you can just get to sleep if you lie completely still, when you don’t cough and aren’t choking on mucus and your throat has hit an acceptable low simmer, and it feels like paradise, the lowest bar possible

Lying here running a low temp, scrolling Bluesky. Anticipating a creative fever dream blend of lichen, A24 horror, and Stardew Valley later.

For people who may be questioning their choices this morning, may I recommend

Bartlebooks says good morning, and wonders what you’re reading today. He will happily keep your book warm by lying sideways over the cover or smushing his bootie on the title page.

Sneaky swing tack for when a dresser misses the fact the flap has untied itself. The artist may go on-stage with ties dangling, but the silhouette is SECURE.

Teeny tiny Totoro crystal puzzle ❤️

Ok, so now for the real stuff. Been reading Cormac McCarthy’s Border Trilogy and have never wanted more for something be endless. Tell me these grim and gorgeous tales forever.

Mandatory first cat post. Will follow up with books later. Priorities.
