Comment by May 14 to protect Craven Canyon from uranium ☢️exploration! This area is very special & has great cultural and archeological importance - the canyon rim doesn't need to be ringed with 50 drill platforms. bit.ly/dramineinfo #blackhills #uraniummining

DRA's Chase Jensen on what's next for the Summit CO2 pipeline after the PUC denied its permit application: “It’s very tough to imagine that Summit begins construction next year." www.eenews.net/articles/co2... #energysky #CO2

In more good #pipeline news, Lincoln County passed a strong ordinance regulating where #CO2 pipelines & #CCS facilities are allowed, protecting homes, schools & churches plus how deep they must be placed under the surface pipelinefighters.org/news/lincoln... #energysky #localcontrol

DRA's Chase Jensen says the PUC decision saves South Dakotans from further wasted time & expense fighting Summit's proposed #carbonpipeline www.tsln.com/news/landown... #CO2 #energysky

DRA board member Ed Fischbach: ''Today is a victory for South Dakota landowners and local control...We are grateful the PUC has made this common sense decision and freed landowners to get on with their lives & businesses.'' www.startribune.com/midwest-carb... @startribune.com @apnews.com #energysky

DRA Board member Ed Fischbach had this to say about the PUC decision to deny Summit's permit: “the company has run out of road to build” and the decision frees landowners “to get on with their lives and businesses.” #carboncapture #CO2 #pipeline #energysky

Today the #SouthDakota Public Utilities Commission denied Summit Carbon's permit application to build a #CO2 pipeline. This is a huge victory for local control! South Dakota is not for sale. www.dakotarural.org/sd-puc-denie...

Thank you Northern Prairies Land Trust for your oped highlight our joint trip to Washington DC to advocate for the release of USDA & IRA funds essential for projects in our #rural areas southdakotasearchlight.com/2025/04/22/u...

Funding for grassland restoration, invasive species control, conservation easements to protect prairies from development, those are funds that are still frozen in South Dakota #conservation #grasslands

Tomorrow is the day - Summit has to present a plan to the SD PUC. The meeting starts at 1:30 pm Central, 12:30 pm Mountain. You can listen live from the PUC website www.dakotanewsnow.com/2025/04/19/s... #CO2 #carbonpipeline

The PUC's deadline for Summit Carbon Solutions to present an actual plan looms next week. The PUC denied giving them an open-ended process www.capjournal.com/news/puc-giv... #CO2 #carbonpipeline

Still no answers for small & medium sized farmers producing for local markets. It's growing season - these folks can't wait much longer before making tough decisions. USDA is failing this country's food producers civileats.com/2025/04/16/u... #localfood #farming #USDA @civileats.com

This is an absolute shame. South Dakotans around the state worked hard to keep the State Library funded, and legislators listened. And now our services are gutted by the federal administration southdakotasearchlight.com/2025/04/15/s... #rural #libraries #sdleg #civicinfrastructure

Excellent commentary from Dana Hess about HB 1169, the bill that would have prevented any groups other than well-financed ones from getting constitutional amendments on the ballot. We appreciate Governor Rhoden's common-sense veto of this legislation #sdleg #rural

We are proud to be partners in this effort to defend USDA's Swampbuster rules that help protect our wetlands! #conservation #farming

Tax subsidies for #carboncapture have the potential to greatly increase the federal deficit with no appreciable benefit to the climate or communities. #CCS is expensive, unproven & is just another corporate subsidy bit.ly/3XSdf9P #taxpayers

Bad news for #localcontrol Ohio legislators are considering bills that would bar local governments from having a say in permitting projects that capture #carbondioxide emissions & inject them underground. The legislation could even force some landowners to let their property be used for #CCS

An attorney representing South Dakota landowners said that there is no scenario where Summit could make its current permit possible.

The SD PUC refused to pause proceedings on a #carboncapture pipeline permit, instead directed Summit to present a plan at the next meeting showing how they can move forward, or not, under HB 1052. The PUC voted 3-0 to deny Summit’s request to put its application on hold. #carbonpipeline #CO2

This afternoon the SD Public Utilities Commission will hold a hearing on Summit Carbon Solutions' motion to indefinitely delay their permit. You can listen live at sd.net

Attn: Farmers affected by the USDA funding freeze or recent natural disasters. Our partners at American Farmland Trust have an opportunity for up to $10k via an Emergency Resilience Grant. Applications will be accepted from 8am EDT on April 16 until 11:59pm EDT on April 26.

Worth keeping in mind as most of South Dakota is a drought.

Independent analyses suggest tax subsidies could average $46 billion per year—more than 140 times the original official projections. It's time to end this waste of #taxpayer dollars for #CCS justsolutionscollective.org/taxpayer-cos...

Egg prices at the grocery store have doubled in the past year thanks to corporate greed. One more reason to buy local food & have more stability in our food prices.

Yes, these federal funds to farmers and farm-serving organizations are still frozen. We updated our post with some of the most recent updates. www.farmaid.org/issues/farm-...

Waiting to see how this will impact South Dakota's farmers & ranchers. Unsure if local field offices will be moved to these new "hubs" or where those will be located. #farming #USDA #ranching #rural

A history of how Summit Carbon Solutions treated landowners & how their bullying tactics has led to the #carbonpipeline project being very uncertain now. Great reporting from @apnews.com & Lee Enterprises bit.ly/3RIBRya

Pipelines leak. The amount of oil spilled is unknown, it was in a field not a waterway, so is hopefully contained. www.kvrr.com/2025/04/08/k... #pipelines

The latest on Summit's permit for a #CO2 pipeline at the SD Public Utilities Commission - hearing is this Thursday. You can watch on sd.net www.keloland.com/news/capitol...

The USDA funding freeze is real & impacting American small businesses. Peterson: "Does he want me to question my own reality? If so, I can assure you, my funds have been frozen, and this freeze is real and is having a direct effect on me and my peers." www.agweek.com/news/policy/... #rural #USDA

Proud to be a member of the WORC network who has joined this lawsuit defending Packers & Stockyards Act rules that are needed by independent farmers & ranchers www.worc.org/worc-interve... #ranching #agriculture

The threats to our wetlands are multifaceted. DRA is involved in the "Swampbuster" lawsuit in Iowa in an effort to protect #conservation practices in farming southdakotasearchlight.com/2025/04/06/s...

This is so disheartening after thousands of South Dakotans worked to save the State Library, and thus our local libraries, during the state legislative session. #sdleg #libraries #rural

The “Big 4” meatpackers want to silence producers and keep rigging the system. WORC and allies are intervening in court to stop them. Farmers deserve a fair market—not retaliation. 🧑‍🌾 Read more: www.worc.org/worc-interve...

More South Dakotans will experience hunger due to these policy changes & funding cuts.

Carbon capture is all about the grift. Thanks to Bold Nebraska for this breakdown of direct air capture & who it really benefits (hint - it's not us or the planet) www.facebook.com/BoldNebraska... #CO2 #carbongrifters

⚠️ NEW ⚠️ Our legal team and allies just filed a motion to defend the Packers & Stockyards Act Rules, which lay out common-sense protections safeguarding farmers and ranchers from meatpacker discrimination, retaliation and deception. Full release here ⬇️

Send a message to your representatives demanding they support the Honor Farmer Contracts Act of 2025, which would unfreeze all signed contracts, issue past-due payments as quickly as possible and prohibit USDA from unlawfully terminating contacts. farmaid.org/freeze

Thanks to @barnraiser.bsky.social for their reporting on USDA banning words like "clean water," "rural water," & "agricultural water" from the Agricultural Research Service. We can't say clean water anymore? What's going on here USDA? barnraisingmedia.com/usda-leaked-...

Many thanks to all of the South Dakotans who contacted their legislators about sustaining the veto of this ill-conceived bill. This was key in preserving our freedom to initiate ballot measures! southdakotasearchlight.com/2025/03/31/l... @southdakotasearchlight.com #sdleg #freedoms
