A working public transit system requires a trusted, centralized authority to run it, preferably a government. In the US, there's been a converted, successful campaign for at least 40 years undermining the idea that we can trust any authority, esp the govt.

NOLA or Clarksdale, Mississippi. Clarksdale is the home of the Delta Blues, natch, but in the end, if the dead are coming back to life, they're gonna meet in NOLA, I think -- continental crossroads, and a city that's used to the dead rising.
