This is a pretty spicy take, so I’ll add: I don’t think that everyone who opposes Ann Arbor’s new CLUP is morally bankrupt, I think some of them have just not considered the broader implications of preventing new homes from being built. Some also do not understand that more housing lowers prices.

“Ann Arbor is not an exclusive community, you just need to be able to afford to live here.”

Lots more food on offer at this years’s Yard Sale. Several houses selling hotdogs. One house selling “Filipino meat sticks.”

I’ve also heard there are political/demographic reasons for some of the border irregularities. I don’t know enough to speak to that though. But it’s weird areas like the South Mansfield Industrial park are annexed but not the neighborhoods around there.

If we had a sane system for drawing muni boundaries, Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti would share a border. Or... we could create the Ypsi-Arbor megacity...

I don't know what this says about the different communities, but here's a screenshot of the Ypsilanti District Library's catalogue.
