If my choice is "complex legal battle with the federal government" or an El Salvador concentration camp with no due process, I know what I'm picking

Yeah, no sympathy for Boston sports fans for at least a generation. The current Boston sports fan who is my age has seen 16 championships just in their four major sports teams. I have seen one, and it took a miracle from LeBron and Kyrie to make it happen.

At some point you would think the rest of the Tesla board would grow a spine and force him out. He's completely tanked their brand beyond repair as long as he's there.

Between alienating his customer base here and BYD about to eat his lunch in China, he way overplayed his hand w/r/t Tesla.

For the life of me I will never understand how no one was able to tell him "THE PEOPLE BUYING YOUR EVS ARE LIBERALS, DIPSHIT"

My dog also does the thing with his back feet when getting scratched; I've always called them his "marching feet".

Yeah, in a business where a sizeable chunk of your revenue comes from "your fans having disposable income" maybe not the time to start a spending spree

I looked at it as a "wow, FOs must believe the cap is going to continue going waaayyyy up" move.

I don't care that the multiplayer looks like they took a 200x300 jpg of Pierce Brosnan's face and stretched it onto a Minecraft villager the game still fucks

This. I mean, the research is important and all, but the buried lede was that they are going to launch *30,000* satellites that are ALL going to burn up in five years? With tax money, I'm assuming? Tell me it's not all one giant grift.

Even their pearl-clutching headline is shit: it implies they're no longer behind Trump after her detention. But they clearly still are.

That target audience is a group of guys who don't want to face up to how thoroughly mediocre they are. Without the coddling/special treatment they realize they're all a dime a dozen and the world doesn't need them. But if you convince them it's all because "DEI" is taking away their opportunities...
comment in response to post
Of course it is. Grievance translates to anger, anger to fear, fear to engagement. It's absurd but it clearly works. After J6 they didn't do any self-reflection. Rather, they just found their grievance buzzwords--DEI, "woke", trans, CRT--and just hammered away to keep their voters mad and engaged.

So rather than make it an exercise of crafting popular, useful policy, it's "how do we keep enough people from voting against us" instead.
comment in response to post
What you have to remember, though, is that here in the US elections haven't been about policy and helping people so much as "how can I ratfuck my opponent and accrue more power" for about 150 years. GOP know if it was a straight referendum on their actual policies they'd get obliterated.

They're simply trying to run out the clock until their budget resolution bill gets passed which then gives them the power to retroactively ignore all court orders.
comment in response to post
I mean, this kind of proves my larger point, though. What we know 100% of Trump and his handlers is that they will do every kind of legal gymnastics to delay, obfuscate, and ignore being told to do something by a court.

Haven't rich entitled white dipshits suffered for long enough?

Nah, all of a sudden the "judge shopping" and "national injunctions" they argued against at SCOTUS last week will be cool again

"the administration will follow Supreme Court decisions" Starting when? They've already been ignoring a couple of pretty big ones, including a 9-0 big one

I read one speculation that it's instead because she's tight with Notre Dame Law School, which has some kind of "religious liberty clinic" that was helping to represent the charter school.

www.nbcnews.com/politics/sup... "She did not explain why, but it is likely because of her ties with Notre Dame Law School. The law school's religious liberty clinic represents the [charter] school."
comment in response to post
One piece I read opined that the school was being represented by a tie-in to Notre Dame Law, which is where she was previously affiliated.

Real question is: if the Canes have any early success, can they also withstand the inevitable running of their goalie by Sam Bennet in a 7 game series?

Yawn. She was only "thrust into this situation" because TERFs like you are trying to use her politically. Kudos to her for telling you all to pound sand. That you have chosen not to actually HEAR what she's telling you is not my problem.

Taking away the autonomy of a young person to decide how she wants to feel about her own life is not the flex you think it is. There's nothing new or progressive about treating young people as if they can't have their own unique responses to life events that don't align with your views.

Saw a couple of nice clappers from him as well. Gotta be hard to jump into the middle of the series making your NHL debut when everyone else has been ratcheted up to 11 for a month.

Nothing will EVER go to SCOTUS, I think. They'll force *every individual citizen* harmed by these EOs to file a suit. The admin will lose, but they will NEVER appeal to SCOTUS, meaning there will never be a national ruling and they can continue screwing over people who can't afford legal counsel.
comment in response to post
I assume the real long game is that they will just *never* appeal anything to the SCOTUS, meaning there will never be a "once and for all" ruling on anything shady they do?
comment in response to post
Oh no, it's worse than that. They're arguing it should be contested *individual person by individual person*.

Right after telling us they couldn't possibly give all immigrants due process because the number of court cases would clog up the system.

Really gotta hand it to the logic of the Trump admin that says we can't have due process for immigrants because "it would be too many court cases!" while at the same time arguing that we can't have nationwide injunctions and instead millions should hire lawyers and sue individually.

Only about 3-5% of PP's budget is spent on abortion services. So, while you think you're being clever, this is precisely what Republicans want. They will throw all proverbial babies out with the bathwater to get there and dress it up as "stopping abortion" to trick you into falling for it.

I will confess to not knowing if there was any *true* malfeasance beyond "it's not a good look to rewrite election laws in a lame duck session" but it does seem clear that they had a plan in place to keep rat-f**king elections in NC no matter what happened with the SC seat.

I believe it is in court currently, but has not been stayed. Lame duck super majority passed a law in December '24 moving control of state board to the auditor. Incoming governor has appealed to the State SC. www.carolinajournal.com/boliek-urges...

It's hilarious that the same people who were like, "What's wrong with the Pacers?" when they were banged up earlier in the season are now dunking on the banged up Cavs for losing to a really good and healthy Pacers team.

I really believe that ~80% of the media's sane-washing is due to this. They gave him SO MUCH free airtime/publicity in 2016 because he sold ads and they figured "how bad could it be?". And as the 60 Minutes debacle shows, the people that run these empires only care about $.
