Ah - but that strategy demands a disciplined leadership - which is sorely lacking from any political party - but especially the Democrats.

"How do people ...?"
... it's the "cult of ignorance" [Isaac Asimov - 1980] with additional insight/elaboration from Carl Sagan [Candle in the Dark -1995].

There's a shit-ton of FWA ... many directions ... but again ... payers aren't responsible for system design - and NET COST of health insurance pretty small % of NHE @ $5T/yr.
We can change it. We should change it - but it will require a functioning democracy. "Free market" capitalism won't work.

Truly "fixing" healthcare is 100% political - and it's the GOP that has fought universal coverage for decades.
No one cares how many payers there are - but eveyone has a stake in single pricing - and the delivery mechanism for that is universal coverage.

Where's the evidence Mark?
Payers (incl PBMs) aren't responsible for our system design.
Sure - they profit from it - but if we want a different/better system design - it won't happen by just blaming payers.
Even if we eliminated them - the juice ain't worth the squeeze.

"China produces 90% of the world’s nearly 200K tons/yr of high-performance rare earth magnets. Japanese companies produce most of the rest in Japan and Vietnam, mainly for Japanese manufacturers."

GOP Healthcare Plan:
1. Don't get sick
2. If you do get sick ...
3. Die quickly

We "need" lots of things:
* Term/age limits
* Electoral College reform
* Tax reform
* Universal Health Coverage
* Expanded SCOTUS
etc...
But we're not going to get ANY of these until we get campaign finance reform. It's not the biggest problem facing the country - but it's the first.

... it's chilling how gun violence has permeated our culture - and how effective the gun lobby is at keeping serious legislation at bay.
We survived a school lockdown intact (2019), but the trauma is still seared into our collective/local memory.
