Ronald Reagan: “Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies. We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.”

Lets not go down the conspiracy road. Watching the video it was clear there was a shooting, but the ear was hurt by the SS agents belt. What is interesting though is trump made sure to get his shoes (with the lifts in them) and proceeded to wear a pillow on his head for weeks. What a dipshit.

You know it's his fault because not his press secretary, but himself, his VP and his DUI hire Hegseth all spoke without any facts. Flailing and weak.

I think the democrats need a version of Fox News, where its all entertainment and bullshit. They should hang this over trumps head and demand when he will visit each family, when will he be at the airport, etc. etc.

This is the result of conflicting interests vying for an easily manipulated mans attention. Project 2025, the oligarchs, and morally bankrupt people vs the president, who's ego and fascination with poll numbers and popularity. This is only the start.

News media whitewashed Trump, barely covered hit rants. Meta, X, now TikTok are all captured. Go look at a right wing website, its an alternate reality. We can't lose empathy and point fingers, that's what they want. They want division. A stick is easier to break than a bundle.

Can't berate people, that's not the way. Social media algorithms suppressed critical stories on trump, Latin media did as well, and people lost trust in news due to a campaign over years to force distrust. Yes they are finding out now, but that means its time to hold out our hand and not turn away.

How can you reach people that have buried their head in the sand, call anything, even if credible, fake news? They go for feel good info, like mental fast food, and it has the same effects as a fast food diet. Like trying to break out of the cave for these folks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegor...

It's more unfortunate that this type of news will not break the barriers they have erected around themselves, preventing any type of criticism. This prevents voters themselves from holding their elected reps responsible, and this I think is the root of the issues we face.

@mcuban.bsky.social How do we avoid this just becoming an echo chamber? I think the people on this site aren't the ones that need to learn how to fight misinformation. How do we combat the overwhelming capture of major social media, teach others how to look for sources and truth?

And out of eligible voters this guy only received 31%. There is no massive mandate, and frankly this isn't who this country is. I grew up believing America is not vindictive, it is not cruel, it doesn't scapegoat minorities.

It certainly goes against Ukraine’s best interests of maintaining global support (morality and public sentiment are obviously needed) to do something like this. It seems more like Putin decided to not let a crises go unwasted and decide to try and drum up public support for further mobilization.
