“More than a quarter of the contracts listed by DOGE were actually already paid, the Journal found, saving no money. For instance, DOGE listed $168,000 in savings for terminating a contract with HHS for an Anthony Fauci museum exhibit. It had already been fully paid.” Beyond parody.

Britain to announce largest package of sanctions against russia in three years of war, says Foreign Secretary. “Now is the time to tighten the screws,” David Lammy said. The sanctions will be announced on Monday, February 24.

NEW: New Doge/Musk Email Drama Goes Seriously Sideways talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/new-d...

Ummmm. Economist works it out to less than $5 per citizen.

I don’t see enough discussion of the amazing “approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished” language, tbh. This reads like a first draft on someone’s Notes app got sent to every federal employee.

Elon Musk's own Grok 3 calls BS on State Department's $65.9B figure of total military support for Ukraine, estimating delivered value of just $46.6 billion. State said "provided," while DoD said "committed." + $35.1 in non-military support. Grand Total: $81.7 billion over 36 months.

If you’re a federal worker and have a special snarky reply to Elon’s five bullets email you’d like me to include in a compilation of anonymous replies, feel free to send them to me on signal at muellershewrote.23 and I’ll keep you anonymous.

PBS Newshour gave a twelve minute interview to Daily Wire host Michael Knowles, who has called for the “eradication” of trans people from society

“Remember, I can do whatever I want to whomever I want.” It sounds like President Trump, to the world. But it was Caligula, to his grandmother. Megalomaniacs end badly. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/o...

I snapped this on 3/27/19. Seven days later, the Trump administration canceled my remote work and moved my job 2,300 miles away and I had to move or be fired. Three months later, they investigated my podcast. The rest, as they say, is history.

At the moment Trump or agent Krasnov (Beauty) doesn’t give an eff about polls. He’s under the delusion that he had a “mandate”— when it wasn’t. A paltry .7% of the noisy population got him in, but they’re still, sadly, a minority.

Who else is either un-afraid, or…is, but doesn’t give a fuck…and is pushing forward, defending democracy…anyway?✋🤚

The Musk emails asking federal employees to explain their tasks are have already been sent. One described it to me as "a trap." donmoynihan.substack.com/p/military-p...

What do you all say? Let’s traumatize Russell Vought. He looks to be as much of a bureaucrat as anyone he wants traumatized.

NSF employees were unlawfully reclassified from career to probationary, and then fired. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...

Here is the limp, witless washrag coward @repgrothman who ultimately WILL NOT represent his constituents bc he will support Trump and musk blindly. He’s never had any spine, ever. And now musk wants to buy a WI Supreme Court seat.

I’m seriously asking, though it sounds fanciful: can AMERICA answer hr@ with things they did last week? If so, how? If a hacker could, pls could they pls? If not, is it bc only a bot reads the mail? Really: could citizens just crush the muskrats? It’s not right a bot should control anyone. dm me?

One person did benefit from the biotech company AquaBounty coming to Pioneer, Ohio: the town’s mayor. His company bought land for $600K before the deal was publicly announced, then flipped that property to AquaBounty for ~$2.1M. By @annaleighclark.bsky.social

This deranged post must be read in concert with new Daily Beast and Yahoo News reports that Trump is a Kremlin agent ("Krasnov") and Hegseth speeding up a political purge of the military. What you are seeing here is fear from Trump and Musk; they need to get to martial law fast.

C’mon 🇺🇸 be true to your own history #nokings

“Today, the General Assembly passed a budget that makes clear Democrats’ dedication to delivering for all Virginians.” (As for Glenn Youngkin, so far he's doing NOTHING to protect Virginia and Virginians against Trump's assault on our Commonwwealth...) bluevirginia.us/2025/02/toda...

Europe is expected to send a military package worth €20 billion to Ukraine, probably starting next month after the dust settles from the German elections this weekend. Ukraine will defeat Russia if packages of this scale keep coming every 2 months.

Usefully sober fact sheet on Ukraine. Please share with those who need it. understandingwar.org/backgrounder...

New, from me @theatlantic.com: *No, the federal government is not too big *It has real human capital needs *Firings are indiscriminate, weakening state capacity *Creating a toxic and politicized workplace is driving away dedicated employees www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

NEW: Using the unitary executive theory, the DOJ said barriers preventing Trump from firing administrative law judges were unconstitutional. These judges can currently only be removed by a board protecting federal employees from unfair practices.
