My grandmother (96yo) broke her neck and finally agreed to go to a nursing home. Mom is cleaning out her place & sent me this pic. My grandfather, who quit Dickinson High School at 16 to join WW2. Then worked for Ma Bell & retired w/ his FULL SALARY AS HIS PENSION. Workers deserve that again.

Every banned book leaves children more vulnerable to abuse. If you can’t read and talk about it you can’t identify it. Books about puberty, books that talk about consent, rape, physical abuse, emotional abuse etc. Every day a pastor is arrested for child sex abuse but Christians want to ban books.

In 2019 we were accidentally in Belfast for 12th night. We were struck by how much it was like a maga rally. The loyalists were marching for Brexit. They were setting fire to Irish flags and palates. Hatred of anyone not exactly like you at the heart of it. Confederates wishing for an uglier time.
