Has Vegas found a way around the tampering rules? By negotiating a trade for the player’s rights & then using that fact to negotiate an “extension” which is what it would officially be they can say, “Hey we just wanted to see if the player we were looking to trade for was interested in an extension”

We’ll miss him and wish him well but can’t blame the guy. Not sure he fits in the top 6 anyway and he’s not a bottom 6 guy

Absolutely. More Rd 1 & 2 success is required. But #77 and 118 are always long shots. If they weren’t they’d go sooner

isn't a player selected at 77 or 118 by definition a player who absolutely no one has any clue if they can even make the AHL? The NHL world is always shocked when a player drafted outside rd 1 is a good NHLer & when it does happen we learn the names of the 50 failed prospects who were picked prior

I like to think you’re right. EDM looked unbeatable in the WCF tho. Their PP was on fire

Absolutely. An even marginally better playoff PP this yr and the Avs are in round 2. I’d like to see Bednar more willing to cruise through the 82 game marathon of the season and be willing to stick with line combo/pairing experiments for longer during reg season games

The takes re Bednar remind me of the hockey analysis we get so often:
Team that won: “they had so much belief in themselves & stuck with their plan even when it wasn’t working. They know who they are and always stick to their identity;that’s why they’re winners”
Team that lost: “they didn’t adjust”

other thing that is happening is supporters scoff at ppl when they express concern about him running for a 3rd term "C'mon. He doesn't mean it. You have TDS." When he does run it will be "Hey he said he was going to run again. He's the only president who gets criticized for fulfilling his promises"

Always a fun quiz. Can easily eliminate Toronto from the choices since they've been through something like 973 goalies since the expansion era began.

Headline had Biden said this: “Biden, in statement about Russia, appears to forget about the history of the Cold War. Republicans pounce while Dems have close door meetings to try to manage the fallout”

TB was good at this too. Not dirty like Florida but they totally knew that refs wanted to keep PPs even and wouldn’t call many infractions in the first place. TB played the odds knowing they had a great PK, could commit lots of penalties that wouldn’t get called, & would get their chances on the PP

I have little doubt that the Ghorman strategy Dedra explained to Krennic also took place re LA

I agree that non-violence is the way. I am also aware that non-violence is most effective when it exposes the violence and cruelty of the other side. I cringe at the thought of how the events of Bloody Sunday, which helped turn public opinion, would be covered in today's media landscape

I recall when Springsteen canceled shows in states that had just passed anti-marriage equality laws. People were upset abt how much this inconvenienced/cost them. Far more so compared to how upset they were abt the actual law. They lamented he hadn't found some 'other way' to express his opinions

A perf ex of this is MLK. Today he is rightfully celebrated & often used by the right as someone who "protested the right way." When he was alive however he was vilified by ppl opposed to civil rights & and was accused of stoking violence. It is imp to meet protest stnds b/c the goalposts move

Avs trade their TV studio team, PxP duo, and ice maintenance crew (to sweeten the pot and fill a need) to Dallas for their PxP team and a marsh peg to be named later

Well it’s pretty easy to stay away from anti-Jewish tropes when criticizing Israel. Just takes a small amount of effort which is similar to the effort it takes to avoid conflating all Palestinians with Hamas

Obvi this yr's playoff PP was bad. Last year was hit or miss over 11 games. Year prior was also not good vs Seattle. Might not be a good sample size, esp since reg season success was good, so I am curious if you think the Ray Bennett firing was right on time, a bit late, or a long time coming.

PP coach need might be as big as any roster need they currently have IMHO. Bednar, CMac, and Sakic need to get this one right.

Slightly more subtle than Tort's comments, but in the same class for sure.

And this is who some Dems think they should align with as an ally. He just wants to be the person eating people's faces, not that people's faces should not be eaten by leopards

That’s a case of not wanting wave off a goal. Bennett very good at making contact look incidental. Did it to Marchand last year. Stolarz in round two. Now this.

I heard someone express concern that since the AH units would be non-smoking, ppl would be forced to smoke on their decks which could start a fire. They'll make up anything and then end every sentence with, "but I support AH just not this proposal."
comment in response to
post
None of the complaints ever need to make sense. They flood the zone with objections disguised as "concerns" all the while explaining that they are for AH, just not this specific proposal. Curiously enough, they will never find an AH proposal they support.

The fight against affordable housing is predictable regardless of where and when a proposal is initiated. We always hear, "I'm for AH, just not in this particular place/this proposal." Then it's complaints about traffic impacts and "how will our schools be able to handle this huge pop increase?"

While kinda nice my preference is to see the Avs sign a 2C worthy of finishing in the top 15 ea season. Wondering if LOC's & MacK's solitary third-place votes are a result of a CO writer or two wanting the home fans to see that they voted for an Av after voting for Barkov & Cirelli

There were a few categories where, by November, it was clear I’d score a 0. MN being great to start the season and BOS being terrible cost me dearly. I should get a pass on Monty being on the “still has same job” category since he was hired before the ink was dry on Boston’s press release

Nicely done. Was in HS when Calvin and Hobbes came out and it was a topic of conversation almost everyday; this still even among friends in college. “Did you see today’s Calvin and Hobbes?” I think two newspapers made their way around the dorm each day and/or through the dining hall for all to read

Absolutely, along with many many other changes realignment would help after those changes occur. I’d imagine every other division in MLB would, right now, clamber over each other to have the Rox in their division. “We get to play them how many additional times a year? Sign me up”
